From bush pilots and guides to hunters, researchers, and outdoor professionals, our customers depend on equipment that performs in real Alaska conditions. We are looking for an experienced retail leader who can take ownership of our Anchorage store, create a strong customer experience, support a small team, and manage day-to-day operations with sound judgment and professionalism. About the Role As Store Manager, you will serve as the on-site leader for Alaska Gear Company's Anchorage retail location. This exempt, full-time position is responsible for leading store operations, developing and supporting team members, driving sales performance, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring customers receive knowledgeable, solutions-focused service. This role requires independent decision-making, strong follow-through, and the ability to balance customer service, employee leadership, and operational priorities. This role is ideal for someone who: Enjoys leading from the front and setting the standard for service, teamwork, and accountability Uses sound judgment to make practical decisions in a fastpaced retail environment Communicates clearly with customers, employees, vendors, and internal teams Is organized, detailoriented, and able to keep store operations moving smoothly Wants to be part of a tightknit, outdoorsfocused company with strong Alaska roots What You'll Lead Lead daily retail operations for the Anchorage store, including customer experience, sales activity, staffing coordination, and operational followthrough Supervise, coach, and support store team members, including assigning work, providing feedback, approving timecards, and managing PTO requests Model professional, knowledgeable customer service and ensure customers receive practical guidance when selecting gear for their needs Exercise independent judgment when resolving customer concerns, handling escalations, and prioritizing competing store needs Monitor store performance, identify opportunities to improve sales and service, and communicate recommendations to company leadership Manage POS activity, daily transaction reconciliation, weekly bank deposits, and petty cash with accuracy and accountability Maintain inventory accuracy through reorders, transfers, cycle counts, weekly checks, and coordination with internal teams Oversee showroom presentation, seasonal displays, and merchandising in partnership with Marketing Coordinate custom projects, repairs, repair quotes, and customer followup with Production and Fulfillment Attend weekly fulfillment meetings, audit open orders, and help ensure timely communication across departments Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required 3+ years of retail, sales, customer service, or related experience At least 1 year of supervisory or team leadership experience Demonstrated ability to lead by example, make sound decisions, and follow through with minimal supervision Strong communication, organization, customer service, and problemsolving skills Comfortable using POS systems, managing transactions, and maintaining accurate records
