POSITION SUMMARY

As a Person in Charge (PIC) at America's Thrift, you will take on a dynamic and rewarding leadership role where no two days are the same. PICs are responsible for inspiring and guiding their leadership team and staff while upholding ATS's mission, values, and company culture. Working closely with the District Manager and Store Leadership Team, the PIC ensures financial goals are met to drive revenue and donations that support ATS's mission and community programs. This role requires strong operational management skills, including budgeting, financial reporting, loss prevention, quality control, and customer relations. A successful PIC will empower their team, fostering both personal and professional growth, while ensuring store profitability and operational excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead Assistant Store Managers (ASMs) in managing retail supervisors, processing supervisors, and dock supervisors, ensuring effective team leadership. Interview, hire, and develop employees while identifying high-performing individuals for advancement. Foster a culture of trust, employee development, and continuous engagement. Drive employee training, succession planning, and overall team growth to support ATS expansion. Monitor and train employees on job duties and company policies, ensuring compliance. Coach and counsel team members, implementing disciplinary actions when necessary. Partner with the Assets Protection (AP) team and People & Culture Business Partner (PCBP) to investigate incidents involving company property, personnel, or operations, taking appropriate actions based on findings. Utilize company reports to optimize store layout and maximize sales. Assign daily operational tasks to ASMs, supervisors, and team members, ensuring smooth store functioning. Manage cash handling, deposits, and financial accuracy. Report any workplace concerns, including harassment or EEOC issues, to appropriate personnel. Oversee onboarding, orientation, and ensure accuracy of employee documentation. Maintain and exceed operational, financial, and customer service goals. Create a positive environment for both internal (employees, peers) and external (donors, customers, charity partners) stakeholders. Manage inventory levels, production quality, and donation flow in compliance with safety and state regulations. Uphold high standards of merchandising and store presentation. Enforce safety procedures and create a secure working environment for all employees and customers. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and values. Other duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 5 years of management experience in retail, production, logistics, or processing environments, or 2 years in thrift store management. Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and profit-and-loss management. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer skills, including spreadsheets and POS systems. Ability to develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Strong leadership, coaching, and decision-making skills. Experience in hiring, training, and developing staff. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to handle interactions tactfully with employees, customers, and vendors. Strong sense of urgency and ability to work under pressure. Capable of independent and collaborative work to drive process improvements. Exceptional time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform prolonged standing, walking, bending, and lifting. Ability to work in an environment with exposure to dust, dirt, and second-hand merchandise. Successful completion of background check, motor vehicle check, and drug screen. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday on concrete, tile, and other hard surfaces. Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach at or above waist and shoulder level, and perform repetitive movements associated with store operations. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push or pull up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to safely climb ladders or step stools as needed to perform job responsibilities. Ability to use hands and arms to handle, grasp, move, and inspect merchandise, equipment, and materials. Must have the visual and auditory ability necessary to communicate effectively, observe store operations, identify safety concerns, and respond appropriately to customers and employees. Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments and may include exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions. Indoor work areas may have semi-controlled temperatures and exposure to dust, dirt, odors, and second-hand merchandise. Must be able to move throughout all areas of the store, processing areas, donation areas, and other operational spaces as needed. Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including weekends, evenings, and holidays. Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
