Production Supervisor (Nights) Assistant Production Manager (Nights) Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Assistant Production Manager to lead and optimize our night shift operations in a food and beverage manufacturing facility. The Production Manager (Nights) will be responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, efficient and high-quality production to meet daily targets, drive continuous improvement, and support cross-functional coordination with quality, maintenance and supply chain teams. This role requires strong leadership, food/beverage production knowledge, and the ability to manage people and processes in a fast-paced night environment. Key Responsibilities Lead night shift operations to achieve production plans, on-time shipments and daily output targets while maintaining product quality and yield. Ensure compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements (GMPs, HACCP, FSMA) and company sanitation and allergen control programs. Supervise, coach and develop night shift staff: hire, schedule, conduct performance reviews, manage labor allocation and maintain morale and safety culture. Monitor production metrics (OEE, throughput, downtime, scrap) and generate clear shift reports; use data to drive corrective actions and continuous improvement. Coordinate preventive and reactive maintenance with engineering and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability. Implement and sustain lean manufacturing practices, 5S, and other continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Manage inventory and material flow for the shift, including work-in-progress control, packaging and FIFO practices to prevent shortages or overages. Enforce strict health & safety standards; lead safety meetings, incident investigations and corrective actions to maintain a safe workplace. Collaborate with Quality Assurance on deviations, non-conformances and corrective actions; support audits and regulatory inspections. Control shift-level costs and waste, identify opportunities for scrap reduction, energy savings and process optimization. Train and certify operators on standard operating procedures, equipment operation (including PLCs), and sanitation processes as needed. Qualifications 2+ years of manufacturing experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role; prior night-shift leadership experience preferred. Experience in food and beverage production or packaged food manufacturing with working knowledge of GMPs, HACCP and allergen control. Proven track record with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) and use of metrics (OEE, KPIs) to drive results. Strong leadership and people management skills: team building, coaching, conflict resolution and shift scheduling. Proficient with production planning tools, ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel for reporting and data analysis. Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to liaise effectively with Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain and senior management.
