Job Description

Shop Manager — Pure Plumbing Solutions Position Overview The Shop Manager is responsible for keeping the shop clean, organized, properly stocked, and ready to support daily field operations. This position takes ownership of shop inventory, material ordering, receiving, and stock maintenance so technicians can quickly locate and access the supplies they need. The expectation is to establish and maintain an organized inventory system, anticipate replenishment needs, and complete routine shop responsibilities without daily reminders. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Shop Cleanliness and Organization Keep shop floors, shelving, workbenches, and storage areas clean and orderly. Establish clearly labeled locations for parts, materials, tools, and equipment. Keep walkways, exits, and loading areas clear. Remove trash, break down boxes, and organize scrap and recycling. Ensure tools and unused materials returned to the shop are inspected and put away properly. Inventory Setup and Tracking Create and maintain a master inventory list of regularly stocked parts, materials, and supplies. Include item descriptions, sizes, storage locations, quantities on hand, preferred suppliers, and minimum stock levels. Establish minimum and target stock quantities with management. Track materials received, issued, and returned so inventory records stay accurate. Perform weekly checks of frequently used items and a complete inventory count monthly. Shop Orders and Receiving Review stock levels regularly and prepare replenishment orders before materials run out. Place orders within management-approved purchasing limits and obtain approval for purchases outside those limits. Coordinate with technicians and management regarding upcoming material needs. Check deliveries against purchase orders for correct items, quantities, and condition. Address missing, incorrect, or damaged items with suppliers and track returns and credits. Keep receipts, packing slips, and order records organized for the office. Stock Maintenance and Field Support Maintain sufficient quantities of commonly used plumbing parts and shop supplies. Put away deliveries promptly and rotate stock so older materials are used first. Keep job-specific materials labeled and separate from general shop inventory. Assist with preparing materials for scheduled jobs and technician restocking. Identify slow-moving, excess, damaged, or obsolete inventory and recommend returns or adjustments. Performance Expectations The shop remains clean, safe, and organized each day. Inventory records reflect actual stock quantities. Commonly used materials are replenished before shortages interrupt work. Technicians can easily locate supplies in clearly designated locations. Orders are accurate, timely, and within approved purchasing limits. Shortages, discrepancies, and unresolved supplier issues are communicated promptly to management.
