You're a trusted leader on the floor, supporting the team, keeping an eye on the details and stepping up when the Store Manager isn't available. From opening and closing the store to handling guest escalations, supporting sales goals and making sure compliance stays on point, you're someone the team can count on to take ownership of the shift. We're looking for a natural leader who knows/loves cannabis, understands retail and genuinely enjoys working with people. You can coach a Budtender, troubleshoot a problem, talk terpenes with a guest and keep the floor moving when things get busy. ResponsibilitiesSales Understand sales goals and help lead and drive the team toward meeting and exceeding expectations. Maintain a strong understanding of key store KPIs, including average basket size and units per transaction. Lead by example with thoughtful product recommendations based on each guest's preferences, experience and budget. Take part in and help support sales incentives, promotions and initiatives introduced by the leadership team. Help Budtenders develop strong selling habits and confidently connect guests with relevant products. Champion Cheech & Chong's selling standards! Asking fact finding questions, providing education and maximizing each guest interaction. . Customers Deliver friendly, knowledgeable and engaging customer service. Get to know regulars by name to develop personal and trusting relationships. Create an approachable experience for everyone from first-time and canna-curious guests to seasoned plant people. Ask thoughtful questions, listen to what guests are looking for and help them confidently navigate the menu. Educate guests on cannabis products, formats, cannabinoids, terpenes, consumption methods and responsible use within the scope of your role. Support Budtenders with product recommendations and more complex guest interactions. Build genuine relationships with guests and contribute to a loyal customer base. Accurately and efficiently process customer transactions. Step in to resolve customer concerns and escalations with professionalism and good judgment. Gather and communicate relevant details to the Store Manager regarding significant customer or store situations. Ensure cannabis education remains responsible and does not include medical or therapeutic claims. People Bring good energy and help create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all staff and customers. Serve as a role model for customer service, cannabis knowledge, professionalism and work ethic. Provide direction, support and on-the-floor coaching to Budtenders throughout the shift. Help keep the team focused on daily priorities, customer experience and store goals. Delegate tasks as required and follow up to ensure responsibilities are completed. Help onboard and support new team members as directed by leadership. Maintain a supportive, respectful and accountable working environment. Be a reliable point of contact for the team when senior leadership is not present. Represent Cheech & Chong's Dispensoria professionally both inside and outside the store. Product Know your bud and support an ever evolving industry by showing eagerness to learn more. Maintain strong working knowledge of the various brands, cannabis products and accessories Continuously develop your understanding of cannabinoids, terpenes, product formats, consumption methods and responsible use. Actively participate in product, brand and compliance training as directed by leadership. Help reinforce product knowledge and responsible cannabis education across the team. Use product knowledge to make relevant recommendations based on guest preferences while staying within the scope of the role. Support store merchandising and visual standards. Operations Help keep the dispensary running smoothly throughout the shift, whether the Store Manager is on the floor or not. Support and complete store opening and closing procedures as assigned. Follow and help reinforce all store procedures and protocols established by leadership. Accurately and efficiently process transactions through approved store systems. Support cash-handling procedures, register reconciliation and other keyholder responsibilities as assigned. Delegate operational tasks and ensure responsibilities are completed accurately and on time. Support inventory counts, audits, receiving, product organization and reconciliation as required. Identify and promptly communicate inventory discrepancies or operational concerns to leadership. Help maintain a clean, organized, stocked and welcoming dispensary. Support administrative duties and other store responsibilities as required. Identify opportunities to improve store processes and the overall guest experience. Complete other duties as assigned by the leadership team. Compliance Adhere to and help reinforce all applicable California Department of Cannabis Control regulations, local requirements and company policies and procedures. Ensure valid government-issued identification and customer eligibility are properly verified before cannabis transactions are completed. Follow and reinforce applicable California regulations Understand and enforce applicable California cannabis purchase limits and transaction requirements. Support accurate cannabis transactions, inventory records and required track-and-trace procedures. Assist with inventory audits, receiving and reconciliation in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations. Follow and reinforce store requirements related to cannabis storage, security, restricted-access areas and product handling. Identify and immediately escalate inventory discrepancies, identification concerns, suspected diversion or other potential compliance issues. Help ensure Budtenders consistently follow compliance procedures during their shifts. Complete all required onboarding and ongoing cannabis compliance training and support the team in maintaining required training standards. Ensure cannabis education provided by the team does not include medical or therapeutic claims or medical advice. Immediately communicate significant incidents or compliance concerns to the Store Manager. Lead by example! Marketing + Community Actively participate in store events, activations, product launches and community initiatives. Encourage the team to create an engaging, welcoming in-store experience. Capture customer information and add guests to our loyalty program where appropriate and in accordance with company procedures. Encourage happy guests to share their experience and leave a Google review. Be a positive ambassador for Cheech & Chong's Dispensoria and the local Sonoma community. Candidate Requirements Must be 21 years of age or older. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 1-2+ years of experience in retail, hospitality, cannabis or another customer-facing environment preferred. Previous keyholder, shift lead, supervisor or leadership experience strongly preferred. Cannabis retail experience is an asset (but not required), particularly within a regulated California retail environment. Strong knowledge of cannabis or demonstrated ability to quickly develop this knowledge. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently engage with guests and provide direction to team members. Comfortable coaching, delegating and providing on-the-floor support to Budtenders. Able to handle customer escalations and make sound decisions when senior leadership is not immediately available. Sales-minded and comfortable helping the team work toward store goals and KPIs while maintaining a guest-first, non-pushy approach. Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently follow and reinforce California cannabis regulations and internal compliance procedures. Comfortable using POS systems, handling cash, completing register reconciliations and following cash-control procedures. Comfortable supporting opening and closing procedures and other keyholder responsibilities. Experience with inventory counts, receiving, audits or reconciliation is preferred. Organized, dependable and able to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced retail environment. Able to maintain professionalism and composure when handling sensitive, unexpected or high-pressure situations. Must be available to work a flexible retail schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays as required. Able to stand for extended periods and perform the physical duties associated with a retail environment, including lifting and moving inventory as required.
