Purpose of Job To manage and direct activities of the Interstate All Battery Center in an effective and efficient manner. To exercise general supervision of all related personnel, ensuring all their duties and responsibilities are properly performed. To accurately complete and deliver required paperwork in a timely manner. Job Components Manages activities of the store according to established policies and procedures contributing to overall effectiveness and profitability. Selects, orients, directs, motivates, trains and retains staff capable of meeting current and projected human resource needs; makes recommendations in various personnel matters such as pay, performance reviews, and terminations. Ensures store is opened and closed in a timely manner. Performs promotional activities for various sales programs. Implements new policies and procedures for store operations. Oversees and performs customer service functions such as answering questions about batteries, solving customer problems, etc. Performs sales activities such as counter sales, monitoring and evaluating store activities and margins, and forecasting future sales. Visits customer facilities, to foster and maintain positive customer relations. Prepares daily and other periodic reports and reconciliations, such as deposits, cash recaps, inventory, etc. Oversees and coordinates the placing of orders for battery products and reviews orders and order acknowledgements for accuracy. Monitors inventory levels and oversees and coordinates the delivery and receipt of battery products. Reviews and monitors annual operating budget for store operations. Communicates with suppliers on matters such as credit returns, new products and services, product performance, etc. Ensures that the store is clean and presentable to customers. Monitors and ensures observance of safety rules and safe work habits. Qualifications Knowledge of math, bookkeeping, etc. as would normally be acquired through a secondary education and one year of additional education or through equivalent experience. Excellent human relations and verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to negotiate contracts and make sales presentations. Excellent telephone skills. Demonstrated ability to produce results with previous assignments. Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Proven managerial skills such as planning, directing, organizing, controlling and coordinating. Ability to use calculator, measuring instruments, computer, cash register and fax machine. Ability to operate motor vehicle and forklift. Ability to use/be trained on using welder, soldering iron and testing equipment. Thorough understanding and background knowledge of retail store operations and products as would be acquired through three to five years of related work experience. Knowledge of and experience with batteries and battery applications beneficial. Scope Data Reports to the Regional Manager and is required to interact with other sales floor employees, customers and prospects, delivery recipients, and other people who would be common to a retail environment. Responsible for management of Store Associates. 90-day initial review; annual review thereafter. Handles financial transactions and cash; responsible and accountable for all store paperwork, budget and reporting
