Full-Time/Exempt Summary:

The Thrift Store Manager leads the day-to-day operations of The Living Room Thrift, ensuring profitability, excellent customer service, and collaborative and effective use of the thrift volunteer team. The position supports The Living Room's mission by managing donations, prioritizing the needs of the agency first. The Manager is responsible for all merchandising, sales and community engagement while fostering a positive, mission-driven work environment.

Job Duties:

• Maintain, create where needed, and implement all Standard Operating Procedures including but not limited to open/close, donation intake, sorting, pricing, merchandising and disposal
• Communicating with Director of Operations about any property needs
• Oversee donation processing, rotation, and disposal to maintain a steady, appealing product flow
• Manage inventory control, stock rotation, and visual merchandising to maximize sales
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and accessibility standards
• Increase and maintain knowledge of resale, thrift, consignment, and retail trends
• Oversee and schedule pickups with pick up team
• With Director of Programs, institute and manage onsite client voucher program Customer Service and Sales
• Implement and manage loss prevention and cash handling procedures
• Ensure exceptional customer service, address complaints promptly, and resolve issues professionally
• With Marketing and Communications and TLR leadership, develop and execute marketing strategies to attract customers and donors Financial and Strategic Oversight
• Manage and report out monthly budget, maintain supply inventories, and monitor expenses
• Prepare and present sales reports, inventory updates, and strategic plans
• Assist with annual budget planning and financial forecasting
• Ensure POS system is in good working order, as well as generating regular reports and inventory management
• Train all volunteers and staff on front of house positions including cash handling and customer service
• Set pricing strategies and pricing guides
• Develop policy and guidelines for working with TLR donation partners
• With Director of Operations, manage waste reduction Volunteer Staff Supervision
• Assign daily work and priorities for volunteers, ensuring alignment with store goals
• Monitor volunteer performance and provide coaching
• Maintain volunteer records and relationships with community partners who supply volunteers
• Ensure volunteers understand and adhere to store policies and customer service standards Skills and Qualifications
• Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills
• Proficiency in retail management systems and POS software
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and volunteers
• Valid driver's license

Environment:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee works both indoors and outdoors
• May be exposed to equipment vibrations, noises, and odors, wet and/or slippery surfaces.
• May include traveling to meetings, conferences, and work assignments
• The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and often work in a shared space
• Required to attend a minimum of one community event/function per quarter (possible weekend day)
• Required to attend all TLR events that require IT management on site.
