The Floor Lead plays a critical role in supporting the day-to-day operations of a high-volume cannabis retail environment while providing leadership, coaching, and direction to the sales floor team. This position is responsible for helping ensure operational standards are consistently met, customers receive an exceptional retail experience, and team members have the support and guidance necessary to perform at their best. The ideal candidate is an experienced retail leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates effectively, demonstrates sound judgment, and leads by example. Cannabis industry experience and product knowledge are strongly preferred. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & Development Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and support to the sales floor team. Lead by example in professionalism, customer service, product knowledge, and adherence to company standards. Coach and mentor team members to promote individual growth and overall team performance. Provide real-time feedback and recognize opportunities for employee development. Assist management with onboarding and training new team members. Support a culture of accountability, teamwork, respect, and operational excellence. Communicate company policies, procedures, promotions, and operational updates effectively to the team. Assist management in addressing employee performance and behavioral concerns. Customer Experience Ensure every customer receives a welcoming, knowledgeable, and professional experience. Support budtenders in delivering accurate product education and personalized recommendations within applicable regulations. Respond to customer questions, concerns, and escalated service situations with professionalism and sound judgment. Monitor customer traffic and wait times and proactively adjust floor coverage to maintain an efficient experience. Help ensure the sales floor consistently meets company standards for appearance, organization, cleanliness, and presentation. Retail Operations Oversee daily sales floor activities and ensure smooth execution of operational procedures. Assist with opening and closing responsibilities as assigned. Monitor staffing levels and coordinate employee positioning based on business volume and operational needs. Support inventory organization, product displays, merchandising, and replenishment. Assist with maintaining accurate product information and pricing on the sales floor. Support cash-handling, point-of-sale, and other retail procedures in accordance with company policy. Identify operational challenges and communicate solutions or recommendations to management. Assist with achieving sales, service, and operational performance objectives. Compliance & Risk Management Promote strict adherence to all company policies and applicable cannabis laws and regulations. Ensure team members follow established procedures related to identification verification, purchasing limits, product handling, and customer transactions. Support compliance with inventory tracking, security, cash-handling, and loss-prevention procedures. Immediately communicate potential compliance concerns or operational risks to management. Maintain a strong understanding of responsible cannabis retail practices. Help maintain a safe, secure, and compliant environment for employees and customers. Required Qualifications Minimum 1-2 years of leadership, supervisory, or lead experience , preferably within retail, hospitality, customer service, or another high-volume environment. Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and motivate a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent customer-service and conflict-resolution abilities. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and sound decision-making. Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with management and team members. Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and standard retail technology. Availability to work a flexible retail schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require. Must meet all applicable legal requirements for employment within the cannabis industry. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in a licensed cannabis dispensary or cannabis retail environment. Strong knowledge of cannabis products, including flower, pre-rolls, concentrates, vapes, edibles, and other product categories. Familiarity with cannabis compliance requirements and regulated retail operations. Two or more years of leadership or supervisory experience. Experience in a high-volume retail environment. Experience with inventory management, POS systems, employee training, or sales operations. Proven track record of achieving sales, customer-service, or operational goals. Ability to perform routine retail tasks, including reaching, bending, lifting, and moving products or supplies as required. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating customer volume. Ability to maintain professionalism and composure during high-volume periods or challenging customer interactions.
