If you have a background in this field, as well as a passion for customer and patient experience, we want to hear from you At UConn Health, this part-time position is accountable for performing a full range of basic tasks in the receiving, storing and issuing of materials and supplies. This position will work in the Laundry/Linen Department at UConn Health located in Farmington, CT.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Initially works under the close supervision of a Storekeeper or an employee of higher grade; works more independently with acquired experience.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
May lead lower-level employees as assigned.
E XAMPLES OF DUTIE S
Performs routine storekeeper assistant tasks, with related duties in recordkeeping, requisitioning, or inventory control; provide linen service to the hospital and related clinics including the Outpatient Pavilion and UConn Musculoskeletal Institute; pickup, push and pull linen carts in excess of fifty (50) pounds; collecting soiled linen throughout the clinical areas and consolidating for pickup by the laundry service; monitoring control over daily linen requirements; processing daily linen add-ons and cuts; tracking of weights and deliveries daily; fold linen; utilize scrub machine; receives materials and supplies, unpacks, counts, weighs, inspects for damage or non-conformance with order; wraps, picks, and assembles items; cleans and maintains shelves, bins and other storage space; may operate simple material handling equipment and assist in keeping inventory; drive box truck, van, materials truck, and other related vehicles as required, move and/or distribute equipment, furniture, chemicals, records, parcels, mail and various bulk type items; minor maintenance of vehicles; filing, typing, data entry; work on computer; shipping and receiving; performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY
Some interpersonal skills; some oral and written communication skills; ability to follow written and oral instructions and to keep simple records.

Any experience and training which would provide the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
Incumbents in this class must possess a current, valid State of Connecticut driver's license. Travel to other state agencies and off-site locations in Connecticut and other states as required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Current experience in a hospital/clinical setting in materials/supply handling and inventory.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT
Incumbents in this class must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity, and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties. A physical examination may be required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Incumbents in this class may be required to lift moderate to heavy weights, 50 lbs. or more throughout the workday; may be exposed to weather conditions and may be required to handle hazardous materials/chemicals.
SCHEDULE
Part time, 45 hours per week, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, holidays are required as scheduled, in urgent/emergency situations must be able to work other mandated shifts, 30-minute unpaid meal break.
