Full Job Description About Us:
Lou's Police Distributors has equipped Florida law enforcement for decades. From our Hialeah headquarters we supply firearms, ammunition, body armor, uniforms and duty gear to hundreds of agencies, thousands of individual officers, and a growing business-to-government and international export book. We are an FFL holder, ITAR and export licensed, and ATF compliant.Job Summary:
The Manager, Firearms Sales leads LPD's firearms retail team and owns the firearms retail channel: the people, the gross profit, the customer experience and the compliance posture. The central task of this role is to grow gross profit faster than revenue. Margin discipline, not more volume, is the job. This is a floor job, not a back-office job. It reports directly to the President and holds a standing seat on our Leadership Team.Key Responsibilities:
Team leadership: Hire, onboard, coach, discipline and where required exit firearms sales associates. Weekly documented one-on-ones, two documented coaching sessions per associate per month, and a daily stand-up on the floor before doors open.Gross profit ownership:
Own the firearms retail number and report it weekly with the math behind it. Grow channel gross profit against plan. Revenue growth bought with discount does not count.Margin governance:
Stand up and enforce a written discount authority matrix within 90 days. Publish a monthly exception report naming every override. Lift and hold team blended gross margin.FFL and ATF compliance:
LPD's compliance function owns the FFL and ATF compliance program. You are named on LPD's Federal Firearms License as a responsible person, which makes floor execution personally yours: sign off on every ATF Form 4473, reconcile the Fastbound bound book to Odoo weekly (signed and dated), ensure the team follows the program end to end, and escalate anything that surfaces the same day. Compliance sets the program. You are accountable for what happens on the floor.Customer experience:
Own escalations personally. If it walks in angry, the manager takes it before the associate does. Respond to firearms-related reviews and coach the team to earn them.Systems and data discipline:
Odoo, Fastbound, Rippling, Microsoft 365 and Teams are used properly by the whole team. Reports tie. Numbers that do not reconcile do not get sent. We use AI tools throughout the business; proficient use of them is an expectation, not an option.Floor and inventory operations:
Opening and closing procedures, cash handling and POS close discipline, weekly cycle counts of the firearms cage reconciled to Odoo, loss prevention and merchandising.Floor coverage:
Build and publish the weekly firearms floor schedule. Coordinate with the Manager, Police Supply so a manager or key holder is on site for opening and closing across the six-day retail operation. The two managers own that schedule between them.Cross-functional partnership:
Represent Firearms Retail at Leadership Team weekly with numbers. Partner with Purchasing on stocking mix and dead stock, with Warehouse on receiving and transfers, and with Agency Sales on law enforcement walk-ins and referrals.Bench development:
Grow the capability and the depth of the team. No single associate should carry a disproportionate share of channel gross profit. Build the second and third producer, not just the first.Qualifications:
Five or more years of firearms retail experience: sales, management, or a combination. Two or more years of supervisory experience, in any industry. Age 21 or older, as required for federal handgun sales. Active Florida Concealed Weapon or Firearm License, or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire. Able to pass an ATF background check and be added to LPD's Federal Firearms License as a responsible person. Clean criminal record, as required by federal firearms law. Demonstrated ability to learn and use business systems quickly. You do not need Odoo experience today, but you must show a track record of adopting systems and holding a team accountable to using them. Comfortable owning a number in front of company leadership every week, with the analysis behind it. English fluency required. Preferred Skills Spanish fluency. Prior law enforcement or military service. Manufacturer armorer certifications. Glock strongly preferred given LPD volume.NRA Certified Instructor:
pistol, rifle or shotgun. Fastbound or comparable electronic bound-book experience.ERP and POS systems experience:
Odoo, Lightspeed, RQ4 or comparable. Prior profit-and-loss ownership at a single-site retail operation of $3M or more. Existing Florida law enforcement relationships in Miami-Dade, Broward or Palm Beach. What Sets Successful Candidates Apart:
Assertive and decisive- brings recommendations with alternatives, not just questions. Comfortable making decisions, owning outcomes, and course-correcting when needed. Proactive communicator
- provides regular, unprompted updates on priorities, progress, and obstacles. Closes loops without being chased. Organized and disciplined
- manages their own schedule, prioritizes ruthlessly, and meets self-imposed deadlines. Cross-functional mindset
- genuinely interested in how the whole business works, not just firearms sales. Willing to sit with other departments, ask questions, and understand the operational context behind the numbers. Direct communicator
- comfortable engaging with vendors, customers, and agency contacts by phone and in person, not just email. Delegates effectively
- knows what to own personally and what to push to the team. Doesn't bottleneck work by doing everything side-by-side. Embraces technology and efficiency
- always thinking about how to automate, simplify, or improve retail and floor processes through better use of tools and systems. Welcomes feedback and constructive conflict
- low ego, high mission.
What We're Looking For:
A career-builder who takes ownership, drives results, and wants to grow with a company that serves a critical mission. We operate with urgency, accountability, and high standards. If you thrive in an environment where your work directly impacts the business, where leadership is accessible and expectations are clear, and where continuous improvement is the culture and not just a buzzword, this is the role for you.Pay:
