Emergency Department Job Description Overview Position Details:
Status:
Full-Time, 36 hours per week.
Schedule:
3, 12-hour shifts. Weekend, holiday, and hard-to-staff day rotation required.

Emergency Department (ED)
Position Summary:
The Emergency Department (ED) Supply Clerk is responsible for maintaining an organized, well-stocked, and efficient patient care environment. This role supports clinical staff by ensuring medical supplies and equipment are readily available, properly stocked, and rotated according to established inventory management practices. The Supply Clerk plays a key role in supporting safe, high-quality patient care through effective supply chain and inventory management. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Maintain appropriate stock levels of patient care supplies throughout the Emergency Department. Rotate stock regularly to ensure supplies are used before expiration and inventory remains compliant with department standards. Replenish patient care items, linens, and supply carts in designated clinical areas. Receive, sort, and distribute incoming shipments and supplies to appropriate locations. Unpack and stock inventory in accordance with established procedures. Monitor supply levels and notify leadership or purchasing personnel of low-stock or out-of-stock items. Maintain clean, organized, and safe storage areas throughout the department. Assist with locating supplies and equipment requested by clinical staff. Remove expired, damaged, or recalled products from inventory as identified. Support departmental readiness by ensuring essential supplies are available for patient care activities. Follow all organizational safety, infection prevention, and quality standards.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Ability to lift, carry, and move supplies and equipment. Regular lifting of up to 50 pounds may be required. Ability to transport supply carts, boxes, and inventory throughout the department. Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
Position Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED is required. Some clerical experience is preferred. May require a valid Indiana driver's license with proof of insurance. Basic knowledge of healthcare administration and medical terminology is preferred. Requires basic computer skills. Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) preferred.
