Job Description

Mr. Slabbed is a premier retail storefront in Highland, MI, specializing in sports cards, TCG (Pokémon, etc.), retro video games, and high-end collectibles. We are looking for a highly experienced, turnkey Store Manager to oversee all day-to-day operations. If you have deep knowledge of the hobby, know how to accurately appraise collections, and can run a retail storefront independently, we want you at the helm.
The Role:
You will be the lead operator of the store. This means managing inventory, executing buys/trades, setting up the POS system, processing grading submissions, and driving local foot traffic. You must be deeply familiar with current market comps and have a sharp eye for condition and authenticity.
Key Responsibilities:
Buying & Trading:
Evaluate and price walk-in collections (sports cards, Pokémon, retro games, and sealed wax) accurately using current market comps.
Store Operations:
Manage daily opening/closing procedures, maintain a clean and highly organized sales floor, and manage the POS and inventory systems.
Grading Submissions:
Prep, review, and manage bulk grading submissions (PSA, Beckett, etc.) for both store inventory and customer orders.
Customer Experience:
Build relationships with local collectors, run trade nights, and provide elite customer service.
Online/Social Sales:
Oversee listings for high-end slabs and collectibles on eBay or other secondary markets, and help drive local engagement via social media.
Requirements:
Experience:
3+ years of management experience in a card shop, hobby store, or high-end collectibles retail environment.
Hobby Expertise:
Deep, current knowledge of sports cards, TCGs, and the broader collectibles market.
Operational Skills:
Proven experience with retail POS systems, inventory management, and loss prevention.
Authentication:
Strong ability to spot fakes, resealed wax, and accurately assess raw card conditions.
Self-Starter:
You don't need to be micro-managed. You know what needs to be done to keep the cases full and the business profitable.
