Job Description

If you are an internal associate, please login to Workday and apply through Jobs Hub. Job Purpose The Intern will provide assistance to the department. The Intern will participate in activities and provide support to various members of the department. The Actuarial Department plays a key role in managing risks undertaken by the Company. We do this by gathering data, measuring and analyzing financial performance, and predicting future patterns of behavior. We also assist in the creation and development of new products and concepts that will be of value to policyholders and enhance profitability to the Company. Interns work side by side with management and senior level actuaries to provide materials to further our company and products for our policyholders. Interns are presented with challenging and meaningful actuarial projects throughout the summer that will provide them with useful actuarial experience while allowing them to develop personally and professionally. Essential Responsibilities Provides administrative assistance to the department. Conducts research related to department initiatives. Answers questions from other departments. Participates in setting and achieving goals and meeting deadlines for actuarial projects. Communicates with management on project status, concerns, etc. Conducts analysis in assigned area. Effectively uses and develops interpersonal and communication skills. Other Duties Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Provides administrative assistance to the department. Conducts research related to department initiatives. Answers questions from other departments. Strong analytical and organizational skills. Ability to interface with a variety of management levels. Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Ability to manage time and competing priorities effectively. Exposure to advance computer applications. Drive to learn and become more acquainted with the Actuarial field. Qualifications H.S. Diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Associates or Bachelors course work preferred. Second to third year undergraduate student or first year masters students in Actuarial Science or related field of study required. Exposure to some programming language preferred.
