About Us The Spotted Whale are retail stores that specialize in high-end coastal living decor and home accessories. Our main focus is having a knowledgeable sales staff that provides a high level of service to our customers in a spirited and fast-paced retail environment. We take pride in our ability to maintain a sense of teamwork within all facets of our business, which includes 5 retail locations, a design services division and warehouse facilities. Our Manasquan, NJ store is our newest Jersey Shore location. Position The Store Manager is responsible for establishing, overseeing, and maintaining the daily operations of a fast-paced, high-end home furnishing, design, and décor retail store. Managers provide a superior level of customer service, supervise Store Associates, and uphold all company policies and procedures. Candidates must be available weekends and holidays. Job Duties & Responsibilities Provide exceptional customer service by providing and maintaining a positive and productive store environment. Provide positive leadership to all store associates. Must have effective communication, organization, and leadership skills. Able to use a retail Point of Sale system for all store transactions, special orders, inventory management, transfers, and various store reports. Work independently in the daily running of the Manasquan store location; responsible for opening and closing the store per company policies and procedures Provide training to sales associates to ensure a full understanding of the point of sale system, store vendors and product lines, store policies and procedures and customer service standards. Monitor merchandise stock levels and ensure the sales floor is adequately stocked at all times. Maintain visual standards on the sales floor including merchandise presentation, signage, and general maintenance. Demonstrate excellent knowledge of the store's products, merchandise, and vendors. Prepare daily plans and delegate tasks related to store operations including cleaning and maintenance, reports, bank deposits, inventory, receiving, and any other daily tasks required. Manage and oversee the store's monthly inventory reporting. Build positive working relationships with the store team, management, warehouse, and delivery departments. Assist in improving or clarifying store policies, business procedures, and/or best practices. Process ecommerce orders and prepare for shipment. Monitor store sales revenue and work to improve store traffic and overall revenue. Remain active in establishing and maintaining local B2B partnerships, community outreach, and participation in local events and meetings, such as Chamber of Commerce and special holiday events. Participate in hiring, training, and performance reviews of store associates. In conjunction with Store Supervisor, create monthly store work schedules to ensure appropriate coverage at all times. Qualifications 3-5 years of related specialty retail experience 2+ years retail management experience preferred Proven ability to learn full product line with multiple vendors & SKU's Highly proficient in point of sale systems; basic computer proficiency (email & spreadsheet applications) High School diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred. Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays. Able to move merchandise weighing approximately 0-50 pounds. •
