Job Description:
The Retail Dining Shift Supervisor assists in overseeing the daily dining operations during assigned shifts to ensure high-quality food service, excellent customer experience, and smooth staff performance. This role's main function is to service the line at least 70% of the time. The Retail Dining Shift Supervisor supports the Retail Unit Manager in the daily operation of the unit(s). He/she supervises employees, works with customers and helps carry out Retail Dining Operations goals and initiatives. Ensures that he/she and unit personnel provide exceptional customer service to a diverse, multi-national and international customer base. Responsible to know and comply with food safety, physical safety, HACCP and other compliance responsibilities and ensures that unit team members do the same, while working on the line. Responsible to efficiently and effectively manage staff and shift activities. Assumes manager responsibilities in absence of manager.
Requirements:
Operational Leadership Supervise dining operations during assigned shifts, ensuring efficient service and adherence to policies Open and close the dining facility according to established procedures Monitor food quality, presentation, portion control, and service flow Staff Supervision & Support Lead, coach, and supervise student and hourly dining staff during shifts Assign duties, manage break schedules, and ensure adequate staffing coverage Provide on-the-job training and performance feedback Address minor staff concerns and escalating issues when appropriate Consistently model the CAS standards for great customer service, professional conduct and respect for employees and others in the workplace. Monitor product quality, presentation and customer service, correct behaviors that are not acceptable under CAS standard. Customer Service Serve as the primary point of contact for retail during the shift Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly Promote a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful dining environment Greets and assists customers as necessary, especially with dietary concerns Safety & Compliance Enforce food safety, sanitation, and health regulations (e.g., HACCP standards) Ensure proper use of equipment and adherence to workplace safety practices Ensures that the unit is clean, safe and presentable whenever on duty. Complete required logs, checklists, and incident reports Assists in ensuring a safe working environment for employees and customers. Immediately reports issues and concerns to supervisor and/or Management. Adheres to and complies with CAS safety policies and reports all incidents/accidents /injuries in a timely manner. Administrative Duties Maintain shift documentation, including staffing notes and operational reports Communicate shift updates and concerns to dining management Assist with inventory monitoring and supply requests as needed Working knowledge of CAS policies and procedures in the areas of physical safety, food safety, unit operations, staff management and payroll/time & attendance among others as required Maintain and monitor store inventory to include physical inventory tasks as assigned Monitors/closes out cashiers and manages cash handling responsibilities in compliance with CAS protocols/procedures/policies. Attends all scheduled trainings (i.e.: ServeSafe etc.) Establishes and maintains a professional relationship with vendors and vendor representatives. Establishes and maintains a professional relationship with clients and University faculty/staff/Administration. Other tasks, duties and responsibilities as assigned by management. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent Associate's Degree Bachelor's Degree
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 2-3
years' experience in food dining setting minimum, 1 plus years' experience in a shift lead, lead or supervisory role Be well versed in all stations, and be prepared to work stations as needed during peak periods. High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred Able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays Customer service excellence. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Experience with working in and/or supervising multi-cultural and diverse work Attain and/or maintain ServSafe certification as a condition of continued employment in this title. Attain and/or maintain any other position required certification(s). Possess computer skill Certifications ServSafe® AllerTrain AllerTrain Lite
TIPS WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional kitchen environment with many types of equipment, etc.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective lenses. Significant walking or other means of mobility. Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours). Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift to 40 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds and perform basic kitchen task, , reach with hands and arms, communicate/give and receive information effectively. Possible exposure to extreme temperatures, slippery floors, and high humidity Work with some chemical cleaning agents The employee is frequently required to: stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle and feel
Additional Information:
$ 22.00 -$ 26.00/hour •Night Differential $.75/hr. after 7:00 pm Mon -Fri., and for all hours on Sat. and Sun. •
THE NIGHT DIFFERENTIAL IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED ON THE NEEDS OF THE OPERATION. HOURS / WEEK / YEAR
