40 Hours Worcester Beverage is looking for a dependable, motivated, and hands-on Store Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of our beer distributor. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the store, keep operations running smoothly, manage inventory effectively, and provide excellent customer service. This is a working manager position. The Store Manager will be involved in everyday store operations alongside the team, including assisting customers, running the register, stocking products, and putting away deliveries, while also handling the managerial responsibilities of the store. Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day store operations and ensure the store is running efficiently Provide friendly and professional customer service Operate the register and assist customers with purchases and product questions Restock coolers, shelves, displays, and other product areas throughout the store Receive, check in, and put away supplier deliveries Place weekly orders with suppliers based on sales, inventory levels, and anticipated demand Monitor inventory and maintain appropriate stock levels Identify and address overstock, slow-moving products, and deadstock Help reduce unnecessary inventory while keeping high-demand products in stock Verify deliveries for accuracy and address shortages, damages, or discrepancies Maintain organized back-stock and storage areas Oversee and provide direction to part-time employees Help train new employees and ensure store procedures are followed Coordinate daily tasks and make sure stocking, cleaning, and other responsibilities are completed Maintain a clean, organized, and customer-friendly store Ensure employees follow company policies and applicable alcohol sales/ID verification requirements Communicate inventory issues, customer feedback, supplier issues, and other store needs to ownership Help identify opportunities to improve store operations, merchandising, inventory management, and overall efficiency Qualifications Previous retail experience preferred Must be able to lift 50lbs or more and forklift experience is preferred Previous experience managing or helping run a retail store is strongly preferred Previous beer distributor, beverage, liquor, or similar industry experience is a major plus but not required Beer distributor experience is valuable at any level, including cashier, stock associate, assistant manager, or manager Experience with inventory management, ordering, receiving, or vendor relationships is preferred Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Dependable, responsible, and comfortable working independently Ability to lead and work effectively with part-time employees Strong customer service and communication skills Comfortable using a POS/register system and learning inventory and ordering systems Ability to prioritize tasks and make good decisions during busy periods Must be comfortable with the physical requirements of a beverage store, including regularly stocking, moving, and lifting cases of beer and other beverages Must be available to work a schedule that meets the needs of the store, including weekends and some holidays as required What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who treats the store as if it were their own. We want someone who notices when something needs to be done and takes care of it—whether that means helping a customer, restocking a cooler, correcting an inventory issue, organizing a delivery, or directing employees during a busy shift. Experience in a beer distributor is especially valuable , even if your previous position was not a management role. Someone who already understands how a beer distributor operates, how products are received and stocked, and the pace of the business would be a strong candidate.
