Overview Join our dynamic team as a Thrift Barn Manager and lead the charge in creating a vibrant, organized, and welcoming thrift store environment. In this energetic role, you will oversee daily operations, manage staff, and ensure an exceptional shopping experience for our community. Your leadership will drive sales growth, maintain inventory accuracy, and foster a positive team culture. Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Thrift Barn, including but not limited to, sales, donations, pricing, inventory flow, and staff while promoting and supporting the mission of Steps to HOPE. 2. Work collaboratively with Human Resources to recruit, interview, hire, orient, train, supervise, evaluate, counsel, discipline, and provide proper documentation. 3. Uphold agency policies, procedures, internal controls, and safety standards at all times. 4. Conduct routine staff meetings to discuss sales performance, customer service, promotions, operational procedures, work assignments, and safety. 5. Maintain current knowledge of recalled products and ensure staff awareness by posting recall information in the donation area. 6. Ensure all thrift barn operations are efficiently managed, including maintenance, housekeeping, merchandising, pricing strategies, displays, inventory organization, and overall store appearance. 7. Coordinate, motivate, and lead retail staff and volunteers to maximize productivity, teamwork, and customer satisfaction. 8. Maintain an organized, attractive, and customer-focused retail environment that promotes profitability while delivering exceptional customer service. 9. Develop and implement strategies to increase donations, grow the customer base, and achieve established sales and profitability goals. 10. Develop, manage, and monitor the annual retail operating budget including sales, expenses, profit-and-loss performance in collaboration with the Executive Director. 11. Identify opportunities to improve revenue, reduce expenses, and maximize operational efficiency. 12. Define, implement, and manage procedures for accepting, sorting, pricing, displaying, storing, and rejecting donated merchandise. 13. Manage supplies, equipment, and resources necessary for the successful operation of the Thrift Barn. 14. Cultivate positive relationships with donors, customers, businesses, and community partners. 15. Prepare monthly operational and financial reports for the Executive Director, including sales performance, budget status, operational challenges, and recommendations for improvement. 16. Ensure accurate cash handling, deposits, point-of-sale operations, inventory controls, and financial accountability in accordance with agency policies. 17. Remain current on resale industry trends, retail best practices, and market conditions to strengthen store performance and competitiveness. 18. Establish and monitor sales goals and key performance indicators (KPIs). 19. Promote excellent customer service and resolve customer concerns in a professional manner. 20. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required: 1. Associate's or bachelor's degree in Retail Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 2. Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible retail management and supervisory experience. 3. Demonstrated experience analyzing and managing budgets, sales performance, expenses, and profit-and-loss accountability. 4. Strong leadership, management, supervisory, organizational, coaching, and communication skills. 5. Knowledge of retail merchandising, inventory management, customer service, marketing, and sales strategies. 6. Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 7. Proficiency with point-of-sale systems, Microsoft Office, and basic financial reporting. 8. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, volunteers, donors, customers, community partners, and agency leadership with a high degree of integrity, professionalism, sound judgment, and confidentiality. 9. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach, and lift up to 35 pounds, asking for help when item exceeds weight limit. 10. Ability to work most Saturdays and occasional evenings or special events as required. Pay:
$55,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
