Spherion Staffing is hiring a Retail Department Lead in Watertown, SD! We're seeking a results-driven leader to manage department operations, elevate customer service, and mentor a high-performing sales team. DOE Responsibilities:

Category Leadership & Associate Training

Drive Category Growth:

Lead merchandising, inventory, and sales strategies for the assigned department.

Train & Coach:

Educate sales associates across stores on product knowledge, seasonal items, and advanced selling techniques.

Stay Ahead of Trends:

Monitor industry innovations, new products, and seasonal demand to recommend inventory updates and promotions.

Collaborate:

Work with Store Leaders and the Merchandising Team to plan seasonal resets, end caps, and special promotional events.

Customer Engagement & Service

Be the

Category Ambassador:

Provide expert product recommendations and personalized solutions to exceed customer expectations.

Provide Top-Tier Service:

Warmly greet shoppers, handle inquiries promptly, and resolve customer concerns with professionalism. ...

Cross-Department Knowledge:

Maintain expert-level knowledge while expanding your understanding of surrounding store departments.

Operations & Merchandising

Maintain Visual Standards:

Keep the department clean, fully stocked, organized, and accurately priced.

Inventory Control:

Partner with store teams on receiving, stocking, replenishment, and special orders.

Safety & Equipment:

Maintain a safe, positive work culture and operate store equipment (e.g., forklift) after proper certification. Perform other store leadership duties as assigned.

Education:

High School Experience:

1-4 years

Qualifications:

• Previous retail management or department leadership experience preferred
• Knowledge of department products is highly advantageous. This would include grills or lawn and garden products
• Demonstrated ability to train, coach, and develop team members
• Strong merchandising and visual presentation skills
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Ability to lift, move, and carry up to 40 pounds Benefits
