Job Description

Job Summary The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager & General Manager in running daily operations at NHC's Brentwood, TN retail store (93 Seaboard), and leads the store directly when the Store Manager is away. Primary responsibilities include supervising and training staff on assigned shifts, executing inventory and merchandising standards, delivering exceptional customer service, and helping the store hit its sales targets and KPI benchmarks. This role helps carry out local marketing and promotional plans, maintains deep product knowledge, and keeps the store organized, fully stocked, and reflective of NHC's brand standards. The Assistant Store Manager also serves as the secondary point of contact for sublet tenants and facility issues at 93 Seaboard, supporting the General Manager on tenant coordination and escalating sublease concerns. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, floor-first leader with strong organizational and communication skills, sound judgment, and the drive to grow into a Store Manager role.

Company Culture:
Privately held and family-owned Essential Functions (Duties that must be performed with or without accommodation. Does not include marginal duties.) Supports the Store Manager in overseeing daily operations at the Brentwood, TN (93 Seaboard) location, including opening and closing procedures, and assumes full store responsibility in the Store Manager's absence. Supervises staff on assigned shifts, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and holding the team to company policies and procedures. Assists with hiring, onboarding, and training new team members; provides day-to-day coaching and input on performance evaluations. Builds weekly staff schedules for Store Manager approval to ensure appropriate coverage against traffic and labor targets. Delivers high standards of customer service by assisting customers on the floor, resolving complaints and escalating issues as needed, and modeling a welcoming, knowledgeable store environment. Executes inventory processes, including receiving, cycle counts, stock rotation, and replenishment; reports shortages and shrink to the Store Manager. Follows cash-handling procedures, including register balancing, deposits, and end-of-day reconciliation, and supports expense control. Tracks daily sales and KPI results and reports trends, issues, and opportunities to the Store Manager. Builds positive relationships with regular customers to drive loyalty and repeat visits. Executes local marketing initiatives, in-store events, and promotional activities as directed by the Store Manager. Maintains shelving, displays, and planograms so key products and promotions are well presented, organized, and on brand. Serves as secondary point of contact for sublet tenants at 93 Seaboard, handling routine tenant and access questions and escalating sublease or compliance concerns to the General Manager. Coordinates with property management and vendors on day-to-day maintenance and shared-space issues when the General Manager is unavailable. Execution:
Turns the Store Manager's plans into completed tasks on time and to standard, shift after shift. Required Education, Credentials, and Experience High school diploma or equivalent. 5+ years of retail sales, customer service, or hospitality experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or key-holder role. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including opens, closes, weekends, and holidays. Preferred Education, Credentials, and Experience Experience in health, wellness, nutrition, or supplement retail preferred; working knowledge of vitamins, supplements, and wellness products is a plus Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, or a related field preferred. Experience leading and motivating a sales-focused team. Experience developing team member performance and coaching. Experience with POS systems, inventory counts, and cash reconciliation.
