Manager in Training - The BLOCKS Leadership ProgramJob Summary ACME Block & Brick is seeking a motivated, dependable individual to join our Manager in Training program. The BLOCKS Program—Business, Leadership, Ownership, Culture, Knowledge, and Safety—is a structured, approximately 12-month development program designed to prepare future leaders to manage one of our locations. This is not a classroom-only training program. Participants will work directly alongside experienced managers and employees throughout the business, learning how our company operates from the ground up. Training will include sales, customer service, dispatch, inventory, yard operations, manufacturing, fleet operations, safety, human resources, and financial performance. Upon successful completion of the program, the participant may be placed in a management position at an available location operated by ACME Block & Brick, Inc., EastWest Products, LLC, or Superock Products, LLC. Relocation is required. Applicants must be willing and able to accept placement at any company location based on business needs and available management opportunities. What You Will Learn The BLOCKS Program develops managers who understand the entire operation—not just one department.
Training will include:
Inside sales, customer service, quoting, order entry, and pricing Product knowledge for block, brick, pavers, stone, mortar, sand, retaining walls, and related building materials Customer material calculations and basic construction-product estimating Dispatching, delivery scheduling, and coordinating drivers Yard operations, inventory control, loading, and material handling Forklift operation and safe equipment practices Manufacturing processes and production flow Fleet operations and a commercial-driver ride-along Employee scheduling, timekeeping, payroll procedures, and personnel documentation Workplace safety, regulatory compliance, incident reporting, and employee training Location financial performance, expense control, productivity, and profitability Leadership, communication, accountability, conflict resolution, and team development Sales development, customer relationships, and local market growth Participants may train at multiple company locations and work with store managers, plant managers, district managers, and company leadership. Primary Responsibilities During the program, the Manager in Training will: Learn and perform the essential duties of each major department Provide professional service to customers in person and by phone Assist with quotes, orders, inventory questions, and customer concerns Support daily scheduling, dispatching, staffing, and operational decisions Learn to operate forklifts and other applicable equipment safely Participate in yard, warehouse, sales, dispatch, and manufacturing activities Review sales, production, inventory, labor, and expense information Help enforce company policies and workplace-safety requirements Assist managers with employee coaching and daily team leadership Complete assigned training activities, evaluations, and competency sign-offs Travel to other company locations for training and operational experience Demonstrate readiness to take responsibility for the performance of a location Complete other duties needed to understand and support the business What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who wants to build a long-term management career and is willing to learn every part of the business.
The ideal candidate will:
Be dependable, professional, and willing to take responsibility Have strong communication and people skills Be comfortable working with customers and employees from different backgrounds Be willing to work in an office, sales counter, warehouse, yard, and manufacturing environment Be willing to perform hands-on work while learning the operation Be able to make decisions and solve problems in a fast-moving environment Be organized and able to manage multiple priorities Be coachable and open to direct feedback Be comfortable learning business software, Microsoft Excel, and reporting systems Be willing to travel during the training program Be willing to relocate for placement after completing the program Previous management, sales, construction-material, manufacturing, logistics, or building-supply experience is helpful but not required. We are willing to train the right person. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Basic computer and mathematical skills Ability to communicate clearly in person, by phone, and in writing Ability to work a flexible schedule when operational needs require it Ability to travel between company locations Ability and willingness to relocate following successful completion of the program Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation Compensation and Career Path Starting salary during the Manager in Training program: $50,000 per year Salary upon successful program completion: $60,000 per year Future earning opportunities may include performance-based compensation tied to location results Completion of the program does not guarantee placement at a particular location. Placement decisions are based on successful completion of program requirements, demonstrated readiness, business needs, and available opportunities. Why Join Us?
