Assistant Manager - Coffee Shop Team Member The Assistant Manager will be the go-to leader in the café when the owner is away. This role blends hands-on barista responsibilities with leadership, organization, event coordination, and guest experience oversight. The Assistant Manager helps set the tone for the café, supports the team, ensures daily operations run smoothly, assists with event execution, and upholds our standards for quality, cleanliness, and hospitality. Key Responsibilities Café Leadership & Operations Act as the person in charge during shifts when the owner is not present Lead by example on the floor, maintaining a calm, welcoming, and professional environment Support, guide, and assist baristas during both busy and slower periods Ensure opening and closing procedures are completed accurately and consistently Customer Experience Deliver consistently excellent customer service and resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally Create a warm, family-friendly, and inviting atmospheres for all guests Monitor café flow, wait times, and overall guest satisfaction Menu & Beverage Excellence Prepare coffee, espresso drinks, teas, and specialty beverages to company standards Assist with seasonal menu development, drink testing, and feedback Ensure recipe consistency and quality control at all times Inventory & Supplies Manage inventory levels for coffee, milk, syrups, cups, and café supplies Track usage, communicate needs, and assist with ordering and receiving products Minimize waste and support cost-control efforts Cleanliness & Standards Ensure the café, bar, prep areas, and guest spaces are clean, organized, and maintained to company standards at all times Oversee daily, weekly, and deep-cleaning tasks Ensure food safety, sanitation, and health department guidelines are consistently followed Events & Private Parties Oversee and assist with private events and parties hosted in the café Coordinate with staff to ensure smooth setup, service, and cleanup Act as the main point of contact during events to ensure a seamless and positive guest experience Qualifications Previous experience in a management, shift lead, or leadership role Barista experiences preferred Strong knowledge of espresso-based drinks and café operations preferred Excellent communication and customer service skills Organized, reliable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment Comfortable taking initiative and making decisions when needed Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift up to 30-40 lbs (milk crates, supplies, etc.) Ability to work weekends and occasional evenings for events Availability between 6:00 AM and 9:00 PM with a flexible schedule What We're Looking For Coffee Shop We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, cares deeply about the customer experience, and enjoys helping a café run smoothly.
