Lead Mechanic About Us:

About us: We are a family run fruit tree nursery located in the Columbia Basin, now in our 3rd generation. Our main product is fruit trees to be sold to commercial orchardists, but we also grow apple rootstocks, alfalfa, hay and have orchards. We have a fleet of roughly 300 assets, including gas and diesel vehicles, agricultural machinery and implements as well as various custom pieces of machinery. The shop currently consists of 1 shop manager and a couple of other individuals who help with repairs depending on the time of year. We have a large 4 bay shop to accommodate multiple projects of varying size. You will report directly to the ownership, specifically the production managers. Our company is looking for an experienced mechanic who can function as our farm's shop manager and lead mechanic. Regular Duties Manage our mechanic shop, including ordering parts, communicating with suppliers, and giving directions to other employees when necessary. Diagnose and repair equipment accurately and promptly. Communicate clearly, respectfully, and in a timely manner. Prioritize safety at all times. Maintain a clean and efficient work environment. Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and suppliers. Document asset information and repairs. December to March - annual servicing of vehicle and tractor fleet during the winter. You will typically have a crew of 2 other individuals to help with this task. April to September - diagnose and repair equipment as necessary during the growing season. You may have 1-2 individuals to help when they are not being used in other farm tasks. October to November - critical harvest period. Most field repairs happen in this short window. Most repairs will be done by you with assistance from the machine operators.

Job Requirements:

Experience in the following: Diesel mechanics, Welding/fabrication, Agricultural machinery, Auto repair - engine, suspension, steering, etc., Hydraulics, Electrical Excellent mechanical skills. Ability to assemble and perform maintenance functions on equipment. Current and valid drivers license. CDL preferred. Capable of driving cars, trucks, forklifts, tractors, semis. Basic computer skills. Communication skills. Spanish not required, but would be very beneficial. Physically capable of sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, twisting, gripping, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying according to repair tasks. Smart/safe use of lift aids when applicable.

Compensation:

$70K-80K/year; negotiable depending on experience Sick pay
