Granite Falls IGA is an award-winning, locally owned independent grocery retailer dedicated to serving our community with exceptional customer service, quality products, and a workplace culture built on respect, integrity, and teamwork. We are looking for a qualified candidate to help enhance our team! The Grocery Front End Supervisor is responsible for overseeing store operations during evening and closing hours when senior management is not present. The PIC serves as the acting manager on duty and is responsible for maintaining excellent customer service, supervising employees, ensuring operational standards are met, protecting company assets, and ensuring the store is properly prepared and secured at closing. Store Leadership & Supervision Serve as the Person in Charge and primary management representative during assigned shifts. Provide direction and leadership to employees throughout the store. Assign tasks and ensure employees remain productive throughout their shifts. Monitor completion of nightly responsibilities and department closing procedures. Assist employees with questions, operational issues, and customer concerns. Ensure employees follow company policies, procedures, dress code, attendance expectations, and customer service standards. Maintain a professional, productive, and respectful work environment. Customer Service Maintain a high level of customer service throughout the store. Respond to customer questions, concerns, complaints, and special requests. Resolve customer issues within the authority provided by store management. Assist front-end employees with difficult transactions, refunds, price discrepancies, and other customer service situations. Ensure employees acknowledge customers and provide friendly, helpful service. Store Operations Conduct regular walks of the sales floor and backroom to monitor store conditions. Ensure aisles, displays, entrances, and customer areas remain clean, organized, safe, and properly stocked. Respond to spills, hazards, equipment issues, refrigeration concerns, or other operational problems. Communicate unfinished work, maintenance concerns, inventory issues, and other important information in nightly email. Front-End & Cash Handling Provide management support to cashiers and front-end employees as needed. Ensure cash-handling and loss-prevention procedures are followed. Oversee closing cash procedures when assigned. Report cash discrepancies or unusual transactions in nightly email. Safety, Security & Loss Prevention Maintain awareness of store security and potential theft or suspicious activity. Follow company procedures when responding to suspected shoplifting or other security situations. Ensure employees follow workplace safety and food-safety procedures. Respond appropriately to accidents, injuries, emergencies, power outages, refrigeration failures, or other unexpected situations. Complete required incident documentation and immediately communicate serious incidents to appropriate management. Closing Responsibilities Verify that assigned departments have completed their closing responsibilities. Confirm customers have exited the store at closing. Verify employees have completed their assignments before leaving. Check doors, receiving areas, offices, coolers, freezers, and other designated areas as required. Ensure equipment, lights, are handled according to company closing procedures. Complete the final store walk-through. Secure and lock the building according to company procedures. Immediately report significant problems or unusual events to store management.
