Sales Engineer
Job Description
Overview Seeking a motivated, customer-focused Sales Engineer to develop and grow sales within the Pittsburgh and Eastern Ohio manufacturing market. This role is ideal for an individual with hands-on industrial finishing experience who understands the challenges faced by manufacturing companies and finishing operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in abrasive blasting, vibratory finishing, surface preparation, industrial finishing equipment, or related manufacturing processes. We are particularly interested in candidates who have worked in a manufacturing environment with an in-house finishing department, finishing company, equipment sales organization, or have held leadership positions such as Warehouse Supervisor, Operations Supervisor, or Production Supervisor with direct exposure to finishing processes. This is a sales position requiring strong technical aptitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build long-term customer relationships. Duties Develop new business opportunities throughout the Pittsburgh and Eastern Ohio territory. Identify customer manufacturing challenges and recommend appropriate finishing solutions, equipment, and process improvements. Conduct customer visits, facility walk-throughs, equipment demonstrations, and technical presentations. Establish strong relationships with manufacturing engineers, plant managers, operations managers, production supervisors, and purchasing personnel. Generate quotes, proposals, and technical recommendations. Manage sales activities through CRM and other technology tools. Coordinate with internal teams to ensure successful project implementation and customer satisfaction. Attend trade shows, industry events, and customer demonstrations as needed. Stay current on industry trends, finishing technologies, and competitive offerings. Required Qualifications 2+ years of experience in industrial manufacturing, finishing operations, equipment sales, or related industries. Direct experience with one or more of the following: Abrasive blasting equipment and processes Vibratory finishing systems Surface preparation Deburring and polishing operations Metal finishing processes Industrial finishing equipment Experience working within a manufacturing facility that includes a finishing department. Strong mechanical and technical aptitude. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable using CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and other sales technology tools. Ability to travel throughout the assigned territory. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Preferred Qualifications Experience working for a finishing company, job shop, or manufacturing operation with finishing processes. Former Warehouse Supervisor, Production Supervisor, Operations Supervisor, or similar role with customer interaction responsibilities. Knowledge of process improvement, production efficiency, and manufacturing workflows. Established relationships within the regional manufacturing community.
