Job Description
About Us Trident Process has been a leading manufacturers' representative since 1987, delivering process equipment and application engineering support across the greater Midwest. We represent premier lines including Alfa Laval, Lightnin, Zenith, and Watson-Marlow, serving chemical, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, personal care, and general industrial processors. We are a small team of about a dozen people. Our sales engineers own their territories, work directly with plant engineering and maintenance leadership, and are compensated accordingly. Position Overview We are hiring an experienced outside sales engineer to take over an established Twin Cities metro account base. This is one of the densest process manufacturing markets in the country, and it is right in our backyard. You will be in plants, not behind a desk. Your job is to understand what our customers are trying to make, find the places where our equipment solves a real problem, and be the person they call before they call anyone else. You'll be supported by our internal application engineering team and by the factory resources at every principal we represent. This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone who has already carried a number, already knows how industrial buying decisions get made, and already understands chemical or industrial process environments.
Key Responsibilities Territory Ownership:
Manage and grow an established Twin Cities account base. Know the plants, know the people, and know each site's capital planning cycle.Technical Selling:
Position, size, and propose equipment across our lines — Alfa Laval heat transfer and separation, Lightnin mixing, Zenith metering, and Watson-Marlow peristaltic pumping.New Business Development:
Prospect new accounts and uncover new applications inside existing ones. The metro has more opportunity in it than we are currently reaching.Manufacturer Partnership:
Work closely with the application and sales teams at the principals we represent, and bring their resources to bear on your accounts.Aftermarket and Service:
Drive spare parts, service, and retrofit business, which is a meaningful and recurring part of territory performance.Pipeline Management:
Maintain accurate opportunity, forecast, and activity data in our CRM. Required Qualifications Heavy chemical process experience or proven industrial sales experience. Either path works, but one of them is required. Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. A track record of success carrying a quota or owning a territory. This is not a first sales job. Comfort in an operating plant — you can walk a process line, read a P&ID, and hold a technical conversation with an engineer. Based in the Twin Cities metro or willing to relocate. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Preferred Qualifications Experience with heat exchangers, separators, industrial mixers, or metering and peristaltic pumps. Prior experience with a manufacturers' representative, distributor, or OEM sales organization. Established relationships with Twin Cities area process manufacturers. Familiarity with capital project procurement cycles and sanitary or high-purity applications. Compensation and Benefits Competitive base salary commensurate with experience Uncapped commission — there is no ceiling and no cap on what a strong territory earns Profit sharing Vehicle allowance and company mobile phone Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid vacation and holidays Hybrid / work-from-home flexibility — we care about results and customer coverage, not office hours Established territory with existing revenue, not a cold start Why Trident You'll have a real territory, real autonomy, and direct access to ownership. Decisions get made in days, not quarters. And because our commission is genuinely uncapped, the ceiling on this role is set by the territory and by you, not by a compensation committee.Pay:
