Your adventure awaits! Egis Mobile Electric, a division of Patrick Industries, is seeking a Sales Engineer to support growth with OEMs and strategic customers throughout the United States. This is a customer-facing technical sales role focused on understanding customer electrical systems, solving application challenges, specifying Egis products and solutions, and converting opportunities into business. The successful candidate will work directly with boatbuilders, vehicle manufacturers, engineers, installers, distributors, and manufacturers' representatives to evaluate electrical architectures, develop practical solutions, and drive business growth. This role combines technical expertise in marine and mobile DC electrical systems with business development, account management, and customer engagement responsibilities.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Customer Engagement & Technical Sales Meet with OEMs and customers to understand electrical systems, applications, challenges, and future requirements
Solve application and system-level challenges while developing practical customer-focused solutions
Present Egis products, capabilities, and value propositions to customers and engineering teams
Build trusted relationships with customers, distributors, installers, and industry partners
Support customer projects from initial concept through production implementation
Participate in customer meetings, trade shows, distributor events, and other commercial activities Application Engineering & Solution Development Evaluate customer electrical architectures and recommend technically sound solutions utilizing Egis products
Support circuit protection, switching, power distribution, charging systems, and related electrical applications
Read, interpret, develop, and modify electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system layouts
Create and update high-level electrical schematics and system concepts using CAD software
Analyze unfamiliar electrical-system challenges and develop practical solutions
Support product specification activities throughout customer development programs Quoting & Commercial Support Develop product configurations and bills of material
Prepare customer quotations utilizing established pricing and commercial guidelines
Support customers through evaluation, specification, purchasing, and implementation activities
Assist with commercial discussions and opportunity management
Maintain accurate customer, project, and opportunity information within company systems
Coordinate with internal teams to deliver timely and accurate customer responses Training & Customer Support Provide technical product and application training to OEM customers, distributors, and manufacturers' representatives
Serve as a technical resource for customers evaluating electrical-system solutions
Support troubleshooting and resolution of technical application challenges
Build and maintain expertise in evolving marine and mobile electrical technologies
Communicate customer feedback and technical requirements to internal stakeholders Qualifications and Skills Strong practical understanding of marine and mobile DC electrical systems
Knowledge of battery systems, circuit protection, relays, contactors, switching, power distribution, charging systems, grounding, conductor sizing, voltage drop, and related electrical principles
Ability to read, interpret, develop, and modify electrical schematics and system-level drawings
Experience utilizing CAD software to create and modify technical drawings and schematics
Demonstrated ability to evaluate unfamiliar electrical-system challenges and develop practical solutions
Strong technical aptitude and ability to quickly understand new products, technologies, and applications
Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, technical personnel, and non-technical stakeholders
Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and customer-facing skills
Ability to work independently within a remote environment
Ability and willingness to travel approximately 20%
Access to a professional home-office environment and reliable internet connectivity
Direct experience with marine electrical systems, boatbuilding, marine equipment, or electrical-system design and installation preferred
Hands-on experience designing, installing, troubleshooting, or modifying DC electrical systems preferred
Experience working directly with boatbuilders, vehicle manufacturers, or other OEMs preferred
ABYC training or certification preferred
Experience in applications engineering, field engineering, technical sales, product management, or business development preferred
Experience working with manufacturers' representatives and technical sales organizations preferred
Familiarity with NMEA 2000, CAN-based systems, digital switching, lithium battery systems, and related technologies preferred
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline preferred; equivalent practical experience will be considered Compensation Range
$80,000 - $100,000 annually
Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the position.
