Job Description Help for Job Description. Opens a new window. Job Description A leader in the Fire and Safety Industry is looking to expand their outside sales team. As an Outside Sales Representative focused on the Test & Inspection division, you will be responsible for growing recurring revenue by selling inspection, testing, and service of fire alarms and fire sprinklers to commercial customers throughout your assigned territory. This role is heavily relationship-driven and will require a proactive hunter mentality to develop new business while expanding existing customer accounts.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Generate new business through cold calling, door knocking, networking, and relationship development within the commercial market
- Manage and grow a portfolio of existing customer accounts by identifying opportunities for additional testing, inspection, monitoring, and security services
- Sell fire alarm inspections, fire sprinkler inspections, fire extinguisher services
- Partner with installation and construction teams to capitalize on warm leads and cross-selling opportunities generated from existing customers
- Conduct site visits, assess customer needs, prepare proposals, and present solutions to decision-makers
- Build relationships with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), property managers, facility managers, business owners, and other key stakeholders
- Maintain a consistent sales pipeline and activity level to drive long-term territory growth
- Utilize CRM tools to track customer interactions, sales activity, and forecasted revenue
- Work closely with branch leadership and operations teams to ensure successful service delivery and customer satisfaction
Note:
This role focuses exclusively on Test & Inspection. New construction and installation sales are handled by a separate team. $55,000- 85,000 base salary + commission

https://insightglobal.com/workforce-privacy-policy/. Skills and Requirements- 2+ years of outside sales experience with a proven track record of generating new business
- Experience cold calling, prospecting, door knocking, and building a territory from the ground up
- Strong relationship-building and consultative selling skills
- Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to work independently in a field-based environment
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the territory daily
- Experience managing a sales pipeline and consistently achieving sales goals
- Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (see full details attached)
- Must pass Pre-Employment Drug Screening includes a 5 Panel Drug Screen that may include:
- amphetamines (including methamphetamines), cocaine, marijuana (only where permitted by law), barbiturates, benzodiazepines, methadone, oxycodone, heroin, opioids, phencyclidine (PCP) and their metabolites

- Terrorist List
- Completed for all candidates
- Direct Fire & Life Safety industry experience
- Experience selling inspection, testing, or recurring service agreements
- Knowledge of NFPA codes and inspection requirements
- Fire sprinkler industry experience
- Former Fire Alarm, Sprinkler, or Security Technician who transitioned into sales
- Existing relationships with commercial facilities, property managers, or building owners within the territory
- Experience selling service contracts or subscription-based solutions
