Job Description
# Holiday Lighting Sales Consultant
- Seasonal (Straight Commission) Field-based
- Assigned territory
Season:
Sept 1- Jan 15
Right-to-hire:
full-time permanent-lighting seat in spring for reps who hit fall targets. ##COMPENSATION
- STRAIGHT
COMMISSION, NO BASE
This is a hunter's seat. You eat what you kill, there's no ceiling, and there's no base holding your earnings down.- 10% commission on every job
- and you keep that 10% for the life of the account.
- Sell a customer once and you earn on them every season they renew. Holiday lighting comes back year after year, so your book of business compounds: by year two you're earning on last season's customers
- plus
- everything new you close. No cap, ever.
- Average ticket: $2,000
- $5,000 per job, so each install you close pays you
- $200
- $500
- again, every year that account renews.
- Real earnings math: book 3-4 jobs a week and you're at roughly
- $600
- $2,000 per week
- a typical week lands around
- $1,200
- , and the strong closers go well past that. Over a full Oct 1
- Jan 15 season that's a
- $10,000
- $25,000+
- commission run
- and next season it stacks on top of your renewals.
- Seasonal completion bonus for reps who hit target.
- Design software, tablet, and paid product training provided.
THE SEASON
- KNOW
THIS GOING IN
- Oct 1
- Jan 15
- is the window. Peak selling is October through mid-December; installs and service run through the holidays; takedown and season wrap through Jan 15.
- We move fast. October is 9 weeks away.
- The reps who win start building their route now.
RIGHT-TO-HIRE / GROWTH PATH
Start seasonal. Hit your fall metrics and there's a full-time- permanent-lighting sales seat
- waiting for you in the spring. Permanent lighting sells year-round and is the growth engine
- this is how a seasonal gig becomes a career.
THE HONEST VERSION OF THIS JOB
You knock doors. You cold call. You stand in someone's driveway on an October evening and help them picture what their house is going to look like in December- then you design it, price it, and close it on the spot.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Prospect hard
- door-to-door on your assigned route, outbound calls to prior-season customers and expired quotes, and commercial targets (property managers, retail centers, dealerships, HOAs, municipalities). We also do very heavy marketing, so there's always fresh leads coming in, especially as we get closer to the season!
- Design & bid on-site
- measure rooflines, count peaks and gables, build the display, present it visually so the customer sees it, and close on the spot where possible.
- Own your jobs
- clean, unambiguous handoff to the install crew; install-day walk-through; in-season service and warranty calls on your customers; renewal + upsell next pre-season.
- Keep the CRM current, every day, without being asked.
WHO THRIVES HERE
This role is built for hunters who are comfortable with a seasonal grind and want the commission upside:- Contractors and tradespeople
- in their slow season
- Teachers and coaches
- who want a high-earning fall and winter
- Seasonal workers
- and commissioned salespeople who'd rather be paid for what they close than clock a base If you're outgoing enough to enjoy a cold door and organized enough that the crew never has to call and ask what you meant, this territory is worth real money to you.
HOW YOU'LL BE MEASURED
(in season)- Doors contacted/week: 150+
- Consultations booked/week: 8-12
- Bid-to-close rate: 30-40%
- Bid accuracy (final vs. quoted): within 10%
- CRM current: daily
- We move fast. October is 9 weeks away. If this sounds like you, let's talk this week.
