JOB SUMMARY
Oversees marketing and sales functions for the Parks, Recreation & Arts Department. In collaboration with the City's Communications Department, provides communications, creates and manages promotional materials across digital and print platforms to ensure consistent branding and effective outreach. Ensures timely, accurate, and engaging communication about Parks, Recreation and Arts programs and activities across multiple platforms to keep the community informed about these services and events. Conducts facility tours of the East Lansing Hannah Community Center for potential internal and external customers and attends meetings and events to promote department programs and facility rentals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinates marketing efforts to promote Parks, Recreation & Arts facilities and programs. Collects, manages, and distributes content for social media, newsletters, and print publications in alignment with AP style and the City's branding guidelines. working closely with the City's Communications Department, including determining coverage to the wider community through news releases and media requests. Conducts facility tours for prospective internal and external customers. Works with the City's graphics designer to create original graphics and captures photographs to promote department programs. Manages Parks, Recreation & Arts social media channels, including planning, creating, and evaluating content; monitoring and responding to comments; and coordinating advertising campaigns. Attends regional meetings and industry events to promote Parks, Recreation & Arts programs and facility rentals. Performs related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field; three to five years of experience providing communications, sales, marketing, and/or social media support. Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be substituted
