Essential Duties & Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide relief coverage for sales and delivery routes as needed throughout the assigned territory. Safely operate company vehicles and deliver products to grocery and retail accounts. Stock, merchandise, rotate, and maintain frozen food products according to company standards. Complete planograms, resets, displays, and promotional activities as assigned. Build and maintain strong customer relationships while providing excellent customer service. Learn and perform the essential functions of multiple routes within the district. Support sales goals, account development, and overall district objectives. Complete required route paperwork, reports, and documentation accurately and timely. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized vehicle and work environment. Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and applicable DOT regulations. Report vehicle, product, equipment, or customer issues to the appropriate supervisor. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of safe driving practices, delivery procedures, and basic merchandising standards. Ability to learn and effectively perform multiple sales and delivery routes. Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage time effectively. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field. Ability to safely operate a delivery vehicle and handle frozen food products. Ability to adapt to changing schedules, routes, and customer needs. Ability to follow company policies, safety procedures, and applicable DOT regulations. Basic problem-solving skills with the ability to address routine customer and route issues. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in delivery, route sales, merchandising, retail, or customer service preferred. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid DOT Medical Certificate, as required. Previous experience operating a delivery vehicle or working in a DSD environment is a plus. Willingness and ability to learn multiple routes, products, customers, and company procedures. Physical Requirements & Work Environment The Route Relief Driver must be able to regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and lift products and equipment as required to service customer accounts. The position requires the ability to safely handle and move frozen food products, load and unload a delivery vehicle, and work in refrigerated and freezer environments. Employees must be able to safely enter and exit delivery vehicles, operate equipment, and perform route and merchandising duties for extended periods. The position may require lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds and working in varying weather conditions while traveling between customer locations. The position also requires the ability to safely drive for extended periods while remaining alert and attentive. The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Position Summary The Route Relief Driver is responsible for providing reliable coverage and support for sales and delivery routes throughout an assigned territory. This position is Salaried at a rate of 65K, Monday through Friday with roughly 25% travel time. This position works closely with customers, route sales representatives, and the operations team to ensure products are delivered, stocked, merchandised, and maintained according to company standards. The Route Relief Driver may service multiple routes and accounts based on business needs and is expected to quickly adapt to different routes, customers, and responsibilities. This role requires a strong commitment to customer service, safe driving practices, operational excellence, and compliance with all company and applicable transportation requirements.
