Job Description

Territory:
East of I-95 (Eastern North Carolina, Coastal South Carolina, Coastal Georgia, and Jacksonville, FL Region)
Reports To:
NC Nursery Sales VP Location Requirement:
Candidate must reside within the assigned territory. Position Summary The On-the-Road Sales Representative is responsible for developing and managing wholesale nursery sales throughout the East of I-95 territory, spanning eastern North Carolina, coastal South Carolina, coastal Georgia, and the Jacksonville, Florida market. This position maintains and grows relationships with independent garden centers, landscape contractors, re-wholesalers, grower accounts, hardware stores, and key retail accounts. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated sales professional with horticultural knowledge, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to manage an extensive multi-state territory. This position reports directly to the NC Nursery and requires frequent travel throughout the assigned region. Territory Coverage North Carolina Counties Beaufort, Bertie, Bladen, Brunswick, Camden, Carteret, Chowan, Columbus, Craven, Currituck, Dare, Duplin, Edgecombe, Gates, Greene, Halifax, Hertford, Hyde, Jones, Lenoir, Martin, Nash, New Hanover, Northampton, Onslow, Pamlico, Pasquotank, Pender, Perquimans, Pitt, Sampson, Tyrrell, Washington, Wayne, and Wilson. South Carolina Counties Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Clarendon, Colleton, Dorchester, Dillon, Florence, Georgetown, Horry, Jasper, Marion, Marlboro, and Williamsburg. Georgia Counties Bryan, Camden, Charlton, Chatham, Glynn, Liberty, and McIntosh. Florida Counties Baker, Clay, Nassau, and St. Johns, including the Jacksonville market area. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers. Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the assigned territory. Conduct regular in-person customer visits and sales calls. Create and execute territory growth plans to increase sales and market share. Collaborate with nursery operations, customer service, inventory, and logistics teams to ensure customer satisfaction. Provide customers with product recommendations based on market trends, inventory availability, and seasonal demand. Attend trade shows, industry events, customer open houses, and educational seminars. Monitor competitor activity and market conditions within the territory. Maintain accurate customer records, sales activity, forecasts, and opportunities within company CRM systems. Manage account receivables and assist in resolving customer concerns when necessary. Communicate customer feedback, product needs, and market trends to management. Meet or exceed established sales, margin, and customer growth objectives. Qualifications Required 3+ years of outside sales experience, preferably in horticulture, nursery, landscape, agricultural, or green industry markets. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Excellent communication and presentation abilities. Proven ability to work independently and manage a large geographic territory. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM software. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to travel extensively throughout the territory, including overnight travel as needed. Preferred Experience selling nursery stock, plants, landscape products, or horticultural supplies. Degree or background in Horticulture, Agriculture, Landscape Management, Business, or related field. Existing relationships within the green industry throughout NC, SC, GA, or Northeast Florida. Physical Requirements Ability to drive long distances regularly. Ability to walk nurseries, garden centers, and job sites. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Pay:
$120,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
