Summary The Vehicle Specialist guides customers through the vehicle purchasing process from the initial greeting through final delivery. This position is responsible for understanding customer needs, presenting vehicle options, demonstrating features and technology, coordinating test drives, assisting with trade-in and pricing discussions, and following up with prospective customers. The Vehicle Specialist is expected to build lasting customer relationships, maintain a strong knowledge of available inventory, utilize dealership technology and CRM tools, and work collaboratively with sales management and other departments to provide an exceptional automotive experience. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Greet all showroom and lot customers promptly, professionally, and enthusiastically. Build rapport with customers and determine their vehicle needs, preferences, budget, and expectations. Maintain thorough, up-to-date knowledge of new and pre-owned inventory, vehicle specifications, features, technology, safety features, and competitive products. Conduct professional and organized vehicle demonstrations tailored to each customer's needs. Coordinate and conduct safe, informative test drives. Present vehicle pricing and payment options accurately and transparently in coordination with sales management and the finance department. Assist with trade-in discussions and provide information to sales management for the appraisal process. Utilize the dealership CRM and other available technology to document customer interactions, follow up on leads, and maintain accurate customer information. Follow up consistently with prospective and existing customers by phone, text, email, and other approved communication methods. Build and maintain long-term customer relationships that encourage repeat and referral business. Work collaboratively with sales management, finance, service, parts, and other dealership departments to provide a seamless customer experience. Maintain a professional appearance and a clean, organized work environment. Deliver sold vehicles professionally and ensure customers understand vehicle operations, technology systems, dashboard controls, features, maintenance requirements, and applicable warranty information. Maintain knowledge of and comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing retail automotive sales. Meet or exceed dealership standards and established sales and customer satisfaction expectations. Participate in required training and continuously develop product, sales, technology, and customer service knowledge. Perform other duties as assigned by Sales Management. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous automotive, retail, sales, customer service, or related experience preferred. Valid in-state driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to read, comprehend, and follow instructions and information. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Professional personal appearance and demeanor. Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a team. Strong organizational and follow-up skills. Comfortable learning and utilizing CRM, computer, and dealership technology. Ability and willingness to meet established dealership sales and performance expectations. Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by dealership operations. Work Environment & Physical Requirements The Vehicle Specialist will spend a significant portion of the workday moving throughout the dealership, including the showroom, lot, service department, and offices. The position requires frequent interaction with customers both indoors and outdoors, including walking vehicle inventory and conducting test drives in various weather and traffic conditions. The employee may be required to stand and walk for extended periods and work outdoors while assisting customers with vehicle selection and demonstrations.
