Job Description

What You'll Do Develop, establish, and maintain both new and existing relationships with motor carriers Build a reliable network of carriers to provide the best possible service to our customers Continually bring on new transportation partners to grow and mature our carrier network through our onboarding process and TMS Make outbound calls and emails to match new and existing carriers with available loads Negotiate rates with carriers on a transactional and contractual basis to increase profitability Verify freight charges, documentation, and other items or discrepancies prior to final carrier payment Think outside the box on how to do things faster, better, and more efficiently while protecting margin Dispatch drivers to pickup and drop-off locations and track shipments to ensure on-time performance Partner with internal representatives to solve freight-related issues and implement the best solution for the customer and carrier Manage and monitor service metrics and individual performance metrics as set by US Expediters management Provide ongoing service and support to carriers, managing and resolving issues as they arise Ensure shipment details are accurately communicated and tracked in Aljex, our TMS Other related duties as assigned What We're Looking For A hard-working, highly energetic, entrepreneurial mindset — someone who isn't afraid of a little competition and always goes above and beyond A master of the art of negotiation who lives to close the deal A creative, resourceful problem-solver — every situation is different, so thinking on your feet is key A phone-first communicator, not a keyboard warrior — someone personable who thrives building relationships over the phone Highly detailed with a proven ability to multi-task; comfortable taking risks and making decisions in a fast-moving environment Bachelor's degree preferred Previous freight brokerage or logistics experience is a plus What We Offer A flat, close-knit organization with direct access to leadership — no bureaucracy Real opportunity for growth and advancement as the company scales Benefits package including medical, PTO, and 401k Regular recognition and feedback on your hard work and results About US Expediters US Expediters is a domestic freight brokerage and asset-transportation specialist with headquarters in the Chicagoland area.
