Position Summary We are seeking a driven, technically capable Industrial Services Sales Representative to develop new business and grow existing customer relationships throughout the region. This is a highly active, field-based sales position focused on identifying repair, machining, fabrication, replacement-part, and equipment-rebuilding opportunities within steel mills, steel-processing facilities, concrete plants, power-generation facilities, and other industrial operations. The successful candidate will spend significant time at customer facilities developing relationships with maintenance, reliability, engineering, operations, and procurement personnel; identifying equipment and component needs; developing opportunities; and coordinating solutions with Delta Steel Technologies and our sister company, Magee Machine & Manufacturing. This is not a desk-based sales position. The role requires frequent customer visits, active prospecting, hands-on interaction with industrial equipment and components, and the ability to coordinate the pickup and delivery of customer parts and equipment when appropriate. The successful representative will:
Develop new customer accounts while increasing sales and expanding relationships within existing accounts. Maintain a high level of face-to-face customer activity and develop strong relationships with key maintenance, reliability, engineering, operations, and procurement personnel. Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified industrial service opportunities. Develop a strong understanding of each customer's operations, equipment, maintenance needs, planned outages, and recurring service requirements. Consistently follow opportunities from initial identification through quotation, follow-up, award, and completion. Work effectively with estimating, engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to develop solutions that meet customer needs and can be executed successfully and profitably. Become recognized by customers as a responsive, dependable, and technically credible resource they call when equipment needs to be repaired, rebuilt, replaced, or improved. Key Responsibilities Develop new business and expand existing accounts throughout the assigned territory. Build strong working relationships with maintenance, reliability, engineering, operations, and procurement personnel at industrial facilities. Maintain a regular presence at customer facilities to identify repair, replacement-part, machining, fabrication, refurbishment, and other service opportunities. Develop a strong understanding of customer equipment, maintenance challenges, planned outages, shutdowns, turnarounds, and upcoming projects. Generate new opportunities through prospecting, referrals, networking, cold calling, and regular in-person customer visits. Evaluate customer needs in the field and gather the information necessary for Delta and Magee to prepare accurate scopes of work, RFQs, estimates, and proposals. Coordinate with estimating, engineering, manufacturing, and operations personnel to develop appropriate technical and commercial solutions. Present and follow up on quotations, proposals, and scopes of work through award or disposition. Maintain ownership of customer communication throughout the sales and quotation process and help ensure commitments are clearly understood internally and externally. Coordinate the pickup and delivery of customer equipment and components when appropriate, including personally transporting manageable loads using a company truck and trailer. For loads requiring commercial transportation, coordinate with the company's logistics team to arrange appropriate transportation. Maintain accurate and timely records of customer contacts, opportunities, quotations, activities, and follow-up requirements in the company CRM. Monitor territory activity and maintain awareness of customer capital projects, maintenance schedules, plant outages, and other events that may create sales opportunities. Work closely with Delta and Magee operations teams to ensure customer expectations are understood and that issues requiring commercial attention are addressed promptly. Represent Delta and Magee professionally and safely at customer facilities, industry events, and throughout the territory. Travel & Driving Requirements Approximately 80% travel, with the majority consisting of local and regional day trips to customer facilities. Regular travel throughout Texas and surrounding states, including Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma. Overnight travel is expected, generally approximately 1-2 nights per week depending on customer requirements. Must be able to safely operate a company-provided one-ton truck and tow a trailer when required. Must understand and follow proper load-securement practices for equipment and components transported by company vehicle. Must maintain a valid driver's license and an acceptable, insurable driving record. Must be comfortable operating and maneuvering a truck and trailer within active industrial facilities. Qualifications & Experience Prior experience in industrial services, machining, equipment repair, rotating equipment, heavy manufacturing, or technical/outside industrial sales strongly preferred. Working knowledge of industrial machinery and components such as gearboxes, pumps, motors, shafts, rolls, bearings, hydraulic cylinders, and other mechanical equipment strongly preferred. Familiarity with machining, welding, fabrication, reverse engineering, equipment rebuilding, and common industrial repair processes is highly desirable. Experience working with steel mills, steel-processing facilities, concrete plants, power-generation facilities, or other heavy industrial operations is preferred. Demonstrated ability to develop customer relationships, generate new business, follow opportunities through the sales cycle, and grow a territory or book of accounts. Ability to recognize potential service opportunities and effectively communicate customer requirements to technical, estimating, and manufacturing personnel. Strong communication, organization, and follow-up skills. Comfortable using and maintaining a CRM as an everyday sales-management tool. Self-motivated, persistent, responsive, and capable of managing a territory with limited day-to-day supervision. High school diploma or equivalent required; technical education, trade-school training, industry certifications, or relevant college coursework is a plus. Safety & Physical Requirements Working knowledge of industrial safety practices and required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and flame-resistant clothing when required. Ability and willingness to complete customer-specific safety orientations, badging requirements, and site-access training. Ability to safely secure equipment and components for transportation within the rated capacity of company vehicles and trailers. Ability to work in active industrial environments and to walk, stand, bend, climb, and navigate around industrial machinery and equipment. Ability to sit and drive for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to approximately 50 pounds unassisted. Must successfully complete required background, motor-vehicle-record, and drug-screening requirements.
