Blacksburg and Christiansburg, VA Full-Time |
Year-Round Employment Base Salary:
$30,000 plus uncapped commission

We're looking for an Excavation and Underground Utility Sales Consultant to help homeowners, contractors, and property owners with excavation, sewer, water line, and underground utility projects while building a rewarding career with uncapped earning potential. You'll meet customers on-site, evaluate project needs, prepare estimates, recommend the right solutions, and remain actively involved throughout the project to ensure exceptional service and successful outcomes. Responsibilities include:
Meet with homeowners, contractors, and commercial property owners to evaluate excavation and underground utility projects Inspect job sites and gather the information needed to prepare accurate estimates Present customized solutions for sewer lines, water services, excavation, drainage, and underground utility work Build customer confidence through professional, consultative sales conversations Guide customers from the initial consultation through project completion with clear communication and exceptional service Coordinate scheduling and project logistics with office staff and excavation crews Visit active job sites to monitor project progress, verify quality workmanship, and address customer questions or concerns Support field crews by helping ensure projects stay on schedule and meet company quality standards Build referral relationships with plumbers, builders, municipalities, real estate professionals, contractors, and property managers Identify opportunities for additional excavation, drainage, sewer, water service, and underground utility projects Contribute to company growth through relationship development, referrals, and outstanding customer service What We're Looking For We're seeking someone who enjoys building relationships, managing projects, and helping customers solve complex property issues.
Qualified candidates should have:
Experience in outside sales, consultative sales, account management, or business development Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills The ability to explain technical information in a clear and customer-friendly manner Excellent organizational, follow-up, and time management skills Self-motivation and comfort working independently in the field The ability to manage multiple customers and projects simultaneously Professional appearance and a customer-first mindset Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record Preferred Experience While not required, experience in any of the following is highly valued: Excavation, underground utilities, plumbing, construction, site development, or heavy civil projects Residential or commercial plumbing systems Preparing project estimates for construction or utility work Building relationships with contractors, builders, municipalities, engineers, or property managers Project coordination, field supervision, or construction leadership experience Build a Career That Makes an Impact Every project is an opportunity to help customers protect and improve their property while building lasting relationships throughout the community.
