JOB SUMMARY
Top Coat Painting Professionals is hiring a Marketing and Sales Specialist to build our customer base and keep our crews booked. This is a relationship and street-level role, not a desk job. You will spend your time meeting the people who send painting work our way (real estate agents, general contractors, property managers, builders and remodelers) and putting our name in front of Pierce County homeowners through door hangers, yard signs, flyers, job-site signage and neighborhood canvassing. You are the first impression of our company. You open the doors, create the opportunities, hand them to our estimating and production team, and follow up until the work is on the calendar. The position starts part-time with flexible daytime hours (roughly 20 to 25 hours per week) and is built to grow into a full-time position as the pipeline you create grows.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify, contact and meet with strategic referral partners: real estate agents and brokerages, general contractors, property management companies, HOAs, builders, remodelers and related trades.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with those partners so Top Coat is the painting company they call first and keep calling.
- Plan and execute the ground campaign: distribute door hangers, flyers and mailers, place yard signs and job-site signage, and canvass neighborhoods around active and completed projects.
- Represent the company at local events, vendor tables, networking groups, open houses and community functions.
- Generate qualified leads and set estimate appointments, then coordinate the handoff to the estimating team so nothing falls through the cracks.
- Follow up consistently on bids, inquiries and past partner contacts. Most of the work comes from the second and third conversation, not the first.
- Maintain an organized pipeline and contact list, tracking accounts, meetings, leads and next steps.
- Support local brand awareness through review requests, job photos, social media content and consistent community presence.
- Report weekly to the owner on activity and results: doors covered, meetings held, leads created and work closed.
- Provide feedback from the field on pricing, competitors, seasonal demand and the types of work we should be chasing.
REQUIREMENTS
- 2 or more years of sales, outreach, business development or customer-facing experience. Home services, construction, real estate or a related trade is a plus but not required.
- Comfortable with in-person prospecting, including walking into a brokerage or property management office and earning the account without a script.
- Professional presence and communication. You will be in front of homeowners, tenants, agents, contractors and executives.
- Reliable personal transportation, a valid Washington driver's license and current auto insurance. This role moves throughout Pierce County daily and reliable transportation is non-negotiable.
- Self-directed and organized. You will build your own routes, calendar and follow-up list and be accountable for the results.
- Physically able to distribute physical media on foot and place signage outdoors in typical Pacific Northwest weather.
- Basic comfort with a phone, email, texting and simple tracking tools or spreadsheets.
- Must pass a background check and be at least 18 years of age.
- Bilingual, existing local network, or prior experience in the painting or construction trades is a plus.
COMPENSATION AND SCHEDULE
- $25.00 per hour, paid hourly for all field and outreach time.
- Commission incentives on the sales you generate, with no cap on earnings.
- Part-time to start, roughly 20 to 25 hours per week with flexible daytime scheduling.
- Clear path to a full-time position as the pipeline and revenue you create grow.
- Branded materials, signage, shirts and print budget provided by the company.
