About the Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce The Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to promoting economic growth, supporting local businesses, and enhancing the quality of life throughout the Algoma community. We are seeking an energetic, organized, and community-minded Event and Sales Coordinator to help grow our organization while strengthening the business community we serve. Position Summary The Event and Sales Coordinator plays a key role in planning and executing Chamber events, building relationships with local businesses, and supporting membership and sponsorship growth. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting with people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes initiative to move projects forward. The successful candidate will serve as an ambassador for the Chamber, representing the organization throughout the community, developing business relationships, coordinating events, and identifying opportunities to increase membership engagement, sponsorship participation, and overall organizational impact. Key Responsibilities Event Coordination Assist in planning, organizing, and executing Chamber events, festivals, networking opportunities, and community programs. Coordinate event logistics, including vendors, sponsors, volunteers, permits, registrations, and communications. Maintain event timelines and ensure all deadlines are met. Support event setup, execution, and post-event evaluations. Assist in recruiting and managing volunteers for Chamber events and initiatives. Assist in obtaining sponsorships and identifying grant opportunities to fund events. Sales and Membership Development Promote Chamber membership and engage prospective members through outreach and relationship-building efforts. Assist with sponsorship sales and partner development for Chamber events and programs. Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, organizations, and community stakeholders. Conduct outreach through phone calls, meetings, networking events, and community engagement activities. Support member retention efforts by maintaining regular communication and identifying opportunities to enhance member value. Work toward achieving organizational revenue goals through membership sales, sponsorship development, advertising opportunities, and event partnerships. Meet a first-year sales and revenue target of $150,000 through a combination of new memberships, sponsorships, advertising, and event-related revenue. Administrative and Marketing Support Assist with member communications, event promotions, and marketing initiatives. Maintain accurate membership, sponsorship, and event records. Provide exceptional customer service to members, sponsors, visitors, and community partners. Assist with social media content, website updates, and promotional materials as needed. Support general Chamber office operations and special projects. Qualifications Experience in event planning, sales, customer service, marketing, nonprofit organizations, or a related field preferred. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Comfortable engaging with business leaders, community members, and stakeholders. Ability to work independently while contributing as part of a team. Self-motivated, resourceful, and detail-oriented. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common business technology platforms. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid bartending/operator's license, required. Must be able to lift 50lbs and stand for long periods of time. Additional Compensation Cell Phone Stipend - $20 per pay period Gas Stipend - $30 per pay period Professional Development Opportunities Employment Conditions Long term employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a 90-day introductory/probationary period. Performance during the introductory period will be evaluated based on job knowledge, initiative, professionalism, relationship-building efforts, organizational skills, and progress toward established goals.
