Solar Advisor, Sundog Solar Searsport, ME | Full-Time |
Outside Sales Compensation:
$50K-$90K+ OTE (base salary + commission) Sundog Solar has been powering Maine homes and businesses with solar, battery storage, heat pumps, and EV charging since 2009. We're a locally-owned team of 35+ covering Central, Midcoast, and Downeast Maine, and we're looking for a driven Solar Advisor to grow with us. Why Sundog Solar Established company, 15+ years in Maine, strong reputation and repeat/referral business This is a warm-lead role. You'll spend your time with homeowners who've already raised their hand, through referrals, inbound inquiries, or community outreach, rather than chasing strangers Full product lineup to sell: solar, battery storage (Tesla, EG4), heat pumps, EV charging Supportive design and install teams so you can focus on the client relationship, not the technical drafting Company vehicle provided for sales trips The Role As a Solar Advisor, you'll guide Maine homeowners and businesses from first conversation through signed contract, assessing their energy needs, building custom proposals, and closing deals that put them on a path to energy independence. This is a relationship-driven, consultative sales role, not a high-pressure pitch job.
Territory:
Greater Maine, with about 90% of your work within 2-2.5 hours of Searsport. Company vehicle provided for sales trips. Expect periodic community events and trade shows throughout the year. What You'll Do Engage and educate new leads on solar, storage, and electrification options Conduct on-site assessments to scope the right system for each property Build and present solar proposals using our design software Partner with our design team to fine-tune custom system layouts Negotiate pricing and close contracts Manage your pipeline in HubSpot CRM Hand off cleanly to our installation team for seamless project execution Build long-term client relationships that generate referrals What You Bring Must be a Maine state resident Proven outside sales experience with a track record of closing 1+ year in solar sales, or a college degree in a related field Working knowledge of solar/electrical systems, ROI, payback periods, and solar financing Comfort with CRM tools (HubSpot or similar), Google Drive, and basic spreadsheets Strong listening skills, since you sell by understanding the customer's actual needs Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage your own pipeline and schedule Nice to Have Experience with solar design software Familiarity with QuickBooks or project management platforms We're a close-knit, team-first company where safety and collaboration matter as much as sales numbers.
