$18 per hour, with room to grow as responsibilities and performance develop
Schedule:
20 hours per week, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday; exact daily hours to be agreed About the showroom We are an independent fine jewelry house and our Hinsdale showroom offers clients a personal, thoughtful shopping experience. The role We are looking for a warm, organized Junior Sales Associate to help care for clients in the showroom and online, and keep orders moving. This is a hands-on position in a small business. Some days will center on appointments and sales; other days will be quieter and focused on online inquiries, follow-up, shipping, and showroom tasks. You should enjoy both parts of the job and be comfortable taking ownership of a clear daily task list. You will work closely with the founder and learn our collections, materials, and approach to client service. Jewelry experience is welcome but not required; curiosity, good judgment, and reliable follow-through matter more. What you will do Welcome and assist clients Greet visitors, prepare for appointments, present jewelry, and help clients explore pieces that suit their interests and occasion. Learn the stories and key product details behind our collections, and answer straightforward questions accurately. Bring complex product or special-order questions to the founder. Record client preferences and appointment notes, then send or prepare timely, personal follow-up using our guidance. Support online sales and client service Respond to online product inquiries by email, phone, or social message during scheduled hours; help clients with selections, availability, and next steps using accurate product information. Follow up with interested clients and open sales conversations, prepare approved payment links, and record relevant preferences and outcomes. Bring special orders, pricing exceptions, and sensitive client matters to the founder for a decision. Fulfill and ship orders Review website and showroom orders assigned for fulfillment, confirm the correct piece and order details, and prepare gift packaging. Create shipping labels using our procedures, check addresses and shipping instructions, arrange handoff, and share tracking updates. Follow up on delivery questions and routine service requests, escalating exceptions or sensitive issues. Care for the showroom and stock Keep displays, trays, packaging, and the client area polished and ready for appointments. Help pull and put away pieces, record movements, and conduct simple stock counts against our inventory records. Flag discrepancies, missing product information, or pieces that need repair; do not make inventory adjustments without approval. Support local activities Help prepare for trunk shows and showroom events: guest lists, invitations using approved copy, product pulls, packing, setup, and post-event follow-up. Assist with simple day-to-day tasks such as organizing product materials, photographing a piece for a client, and coordinating local pickups or deliveries. Help create showroom social content Capture clear, natural phone photos and short videos of jewelry, styling, packaging, showroom moments, and events during agreed times. Organize the best images and clips in a shared folder, with product names and details so the team can use them accurately. Help prepare simple Stories or captions and schedule or publish content that has been reviewed and approved. Flag client questions received through social channels and route them for a timely reply. Follow our consent and privacy guidelines when photographing people. What we are looking for A genuine interest in fine jewelry, design, and thoughtful service. A friendly, composed manner and confidence speaking with clients in person, by phone, and by email. Strong attention to detail, especially with names, addresses, product references, and shipping. Comfort using email, basic spreadsheets, and online order systems; training will be provided on our tools. An eye for attractive, natural phone photography and comfort using Instagram; professional content creation experience is not required. Dependability, discretion, and the initiative to complete useful work during slower showroom hours. Retail, hospitality, or client service experience is helpful, but we welcome candidates who are ready to learn. This is an opportunity to grow with a small jewelry house. As you become confident with the collections, client relationships, and operations, there may be room for more responsibility and hours.
