Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Produce Clerk/Manager to oversee the fresh produce section of our retail store. The Produce Clerk/Manager will lead a team, manage inventory, and uphold safety and cleanliness standards while fostering a positive environment for both staff and customers. Responsibilities Supervise daily operations of the produce department, including stocking, merchandising, and inventory control to ensure freshness and quality standards are met. Lead, train, and motivate team members in customer service, product knowledge, safety procedures, and operational tasks. Manage purchasing and pricing strategies to optimize sales and profitability while maintaining competitive market prices. Oversee cash handling, POS (Point of Sale) systems, and cashiering duties to ensure accurate transactions and excellent customer service. Conduct employee orientation sessions, ongoing training & development programs, and performance evaluations to foster a skilled and motivated team. Monitor inventory levels regularly using inventory management systems; place orders as needed to prevent stock shortages or overstock situations. Implement merchandising plans that enhance product visibility and appeal; ensure the store remains organized, clean, and compliant with safety regulations. Requirements Proven management experience in retail store operations or grocery environments with supervisory responsibilities. Strong knowledge of retail sales techniques, inventory management, POS systems, pricing strategies, and operational procedures. Excellent communication skills in multiple languages; bilingual abilities are highly valued for diverse customer engagement. Demonstrated skills in negotiation, recruiting, interviewing, employee orientation, training & development, and team supervision. Basic math skills for cash handling, bookkeeping, budgeting, and retail math calculations; proficiency with POS systems is essential. Experience in retail industry sales team management with a focus on customer service excellence. Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently with strong organizational skills; time management is critical for shift management and daily operations. Knowledge of retail store product knowledge including produce standards; familiarity with merchandising techniques is preferred. Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate staff, communicate effectively at all levels, and foster a positive work environment.
