2 days remote / 3 in‑office Predictable hours (no nights, weekends, or holidays) Competitive pay + generous PTO Medical, dental & vision starting day one 401(k), tuition reimbursement & longevity bonuses Responsibilities Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies is looking for a Residual Market Associate -Auditor to join our Underwriting-RISC team in Wilkes-Barre, PA. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting independent reviews of policyholders' operations and classifications for Workers' Compensation policies assigned through NCCI or state-specific plan administrators. This role ensures accurate premium determination by performing preliminary and final premium audits in accordance with applicable state regulations, NCCI guidelines, and Servicing Carrier Performance Standards. Audits are completed through correspondence, telephone interviews, and review of policyholder records, requiring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to customer service. You'll receive on-the-job training and support while building valuable skills in auditing, business operations, compliance, and customer service. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with backgrounds in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Mathematics, Risk Management, or related fields who are looking to start a professional career in Insurance with growth potential.
Day-to-day responsibilities:
Conduct Workers' Compensation premium audits from our Wilkes-Barre office Communicate directly with business owners and policyholders throughout the audit process Review payroll records, tax documents, financial records, and other business documents Analyze information to determine accurate insurance premiums Research business operations and classifications to ensure compliance with industry guidelines Complete audit workpapers using Excel and internal systems Maintain high standards for accuracy, quality, and timeliness Collaborate with internal teams to resolve audit questions and support business objectives Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field preferred Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Comfort working with numbers, financial information, and detailed records Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong customer service and relationship-building abilities Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications High attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to learn new systems, regulations, and business processes
Pay Rate:
Starting rate of pay is $21.92 per hour for this position in Wilkes‑Barre, PA. This role may be based out of the Wilkes-Barre location. The successful candidate is expected to work in one of our offices 3 days per week and also be available for travel as required.
