In person - San Jose, CA About the Role We are a fast-growing deep-tech semiconductor startup building wafer-scale 2D materials, and we design and build much of our own equipment in-house. That means a constant flow of mechanical and electrical parts, equipment, gases, and services from vendors around the world. We are looking for a junior Technical Associate with a mechanical or electrical engineering background to own vendor outreach and sourcing for our engineering team. You will be the bridge between our engineers and our suppliers: technical enough to read a drawing or a datasheet and ask the right questions, organized enough to never let a quote or shipment fall through the cracks. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities Sourcing :
Identify and contact vendors for vacuum hardware, gas delivery parts, furnace components, motors, sensors, electrical/controls, chemicals, gases, and consumables
Quotes:
Issue RFQs, gather and compare quotes, negotiate pricing and lead times
Specs:
Translate engineer requirements into clear specifications for vendors and verify vendor offerings meet them
Order Tracking:
Place and track purchase orders; follow up on lead times, shipments, and delays; keep engineers informed
Receiving:
Inspect incoming parts against drawings and specs; maintain inventory records
Vendor Management:
Build and maintain an organized vendor and parts database; coordinate vendor demos, site visits, installation, and service calls
Documentation:
Collect and file datasheets, drawings, certificates, SDS, warranties, and compliance paperwork
Logistics:
Coordinate domestic and international shipping, customs, and import paperwork, including gas and hazmat deliveries
Requirements Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Technical Literacy:
Able to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, part specifications, and datasheets
Communication:
Clear, professional written and verbal English; comfortable emailing and calling vendors daily
Organization:
Highly organized with relentless follow-through; comfortable managing many open items at once Attention to
Detail:
