Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sandblasting Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing surfaces through abrasive blasting techniques to ensure optimal paint adhesion and surface cleanliness. Your expertise will contribute to high-quality finishing on a variety of projects, including industrial, commercial, and residential structures. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced equipment and develop your skills in surface preparation and finishing processes. Responsibilities Operate sandblasting equipment safely and efficiently to clean and prepare surfaces on diverse materials such as metal, concrete, masonry, and stucco. Set up and calibrate blasting machines according to project specifications and surface requirements. Inspect surfaces before and after blasting to ensure proper cleaning and adherence to quality standards. Mix abrasive materials and adjust pressure settings for optimal results while minimizing waste. Maintain a clean work area, ensuring all equipment is properly stored and serviced regularly. Follow safety protocols diligently, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, gloves, and eye protection. Collaborate with team members on surface preparation tasks for painting, restoration, or renovation projects involving construction estimating, blueprint reading, or schematics interpretation. Skills Strong knowledge of construction site safety procedures and equipment handling. Experience with hand tools, power tools, airless paint spraying, welding, and maintenance of blasting machinery. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings related to construction painting or industrial projects. Familiarity with surface preparation techniques including plastering, caulking, trim carpentry, stucco application, masonry work, concrete finishing, framing carpentry, remodeling, fixture installation, restoration, renovation work, and drywall finishing. Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to project specifications. Knowledge of color theory for proper surface finishing aesthetics (nice-to-have). Previous experience working on construction sites with exposure to residential or commercial painting projects (preferred). Ability to operate hand tools such as scrapers, grinders, sanders along with power tools used in construction painting or masonry work. Experience with industrial painting techniques including airless spray systems. Skills in schematics interpretation for equipment setup or troubleshooting. Handyman experience that includes caulking, trim carpentry or fixture installation is advantageous.
