School Bus Driver

Overview Join our JVS team as a School Bus Driver and become a vital part of ensuring safe, reliable transportation for students in our community. As a School Bus Driver, you will be responsible for transporting students safely to and from school in the mornings and afternoons, 4 hours per day, Monday - Friday during the regular school year. Additional drive time may be required for field trips, sporting events, etc. Applicants must have valid Maine CDL with PS endorsement as well as current Maine CHRC certification. Responsibilities Safely operate school buses and other authorized vehicles, ensuring compliance with traffic laws and safety regulations. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, mechanical condition, and cleanliness. Follow designated routes and schedules precisely, adjusting as needed for traffic or weather conditions. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff. Manage student behavior on the bus ensuring a respectful and safe environment. Maintain accurate logs of trips, mileage, incidents, and safety checks; report any vehicle issues or safety concerns promptly. Provide excellent customer service by addressing questions from parents and guardians professionally and courteously. Uphold a professional appearance and demeanor at all times, representing the school district positively in the community. Experience Proven experience in bus driving or commercial driving with a valid driver's license suitable for operating large vehicles. Mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems to perform basic inspections and troubleshoot minor issues. Knowledge of local traffic laws, safety regulations, and best practices for school transportation.

Pay:

$21.09 - $25.09 per hour
