Job Description

Category Schools - LPN Nurse Job Type Contract Embark on a rewarding contract assignment supporting medically fragile students in a school environment near Fairport, NY. Two full-time LPNs are needed immediately through the end of June, with a possible extension. You'll play a vital role in either an elementary or high school setting, ensuring safety, comfort, and quality care for students with complex medical needs. You'll work approximately 30-32.5 hours per week, supporting students with conditions requiring a high level of skill and attention, including tracheostomies, g-tubes, diabetes management, and seizure care. For one assignment, bus riding is part of the daily routine, while the other begins directly at the school. What you'll bring: Active LPN/LVN license in New York State Previous experience working with pediatric and young adult populations Strong familiarity with care for tracheostomies, g-tubes, diabetes, and seizure disorders Background in Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) environments is highly valued Confidence in managing medically complex students and working collaboratively with school staff and families Ability to provide care both in classroom settings and in transit (bus riding required for one student) Commitment to attentive, compassionate, and professional care Role responsibilities: Administer and monitor medication and treatments per physician orders Deliver 1:1 nursing care and supervision Document student health status, interventions, and outcomes accurately Collaborate with school staff and communicate effectively with parents/guardians Manage emergencies and respond quickly to changes in condition Compensation is competitive, with rates typically ranging from $32-$35 per hour and consideration for higher rates based on experience.
