Description Position Summary The School Nurse supports the health and well-being of children enrolled in Jack & Jill Centers Early Education and Madelaine Halmos Academy by providing professional nursing care, health assessments, and health education for children and families. This role ensures compliance with all health regulations and licensing requirements while promoting a safe and healthy school environment. The School Nurse works closely with teachers, administrators, families, and community health providers to manage student health needs and support overall child development. Primary Position Responsibilities Student Health Services Provide direct nursing care to children including first aid, medication administration, and health monitoring. Conduct health screenings including vision, hearing, and developmental assessments as required. Monitor and manage chronic health conditions such as asthma, allergies, seizures, and diabetes. Maintain accurate health records for all enrolled children. Facilitate and support telehealth services for students, including coordinating virtual visits, assisting with technology setup, and ensuring appropriate documentation and follow-up care. Health Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health regulations and childcare licensing requirements. Maintain immunization and medical documentation records for students. Develop and update individual Health Care Plans (IHCPs) for children with medical needs. Ensure telehealth services are delivered in accordance with privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA) and organizational policies. Family Engagement & Education Communicate with families regarding student health concerns, illnesses, and follow-up care. Provide health education to families related to nutrition, hygiene, and child wellness. Connect families with community health resources when needed. Educate families on the availability and appropriate use of telehealth services and obtain required consents for participation. Staff Support & Training Provide guidance to teachers and staff on health and safety procedures. Train staff on emergency response, medication administration, and health protocols. Assist in developing emergency preparedness plans for the school. Train staff on telehealth procedures, including student preparation, privacy practices, and emergency protocols during virtual visits.
