This role involves delivering engaging lessons in science and social studies, fostering critical thinking, and nurturing a love for learning across diverse student populations. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, creativity, and expertise to develop comprehensive curricula that align with educational standards while supporting students' academic growth and personal development. You will play a vital role in creating an inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages curiosity, collaboration, and lifelong learning. This position will also involve teaching electives. Duties Design and implement engaging lesson plans that cover key concepts in science (including biology, chemistry, physics, and earth sciences) and social studies (history, geography, civics) for grades 6-10. Develop curriculum materials that meet state and national standards while incorporating innovative learning technologies to enhance student engagement. Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, including standardized testing preparations, and provide constructive feedback to support individual growth. Foster a positive classroom environment through effective classroom management strategies, behavior management techniques, and inclusive teaching practices tailored to diverse learning needs. Mentor students by providing academic advising, supporting their social-emotional development, and encouraging extracurricular involvement such as sports coaching or library services when applicable. Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, school events, and professional development initiatives to continuously improve instructional quality. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavioral concerns, and upcoming assessments or projects. Skills Strong knowledge of science disciplines including biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences, as well as social studies topics like history and geography. Excellent classroom management skills to create a respectful, productive learning environment. Experience working with children across different age groups within grades 6-10; familiarity with childhood development principles is preferred. Effective lesson planning skills utilizing various learning technologies to enhance instruction and student engagement. Strong communication skills for public speaking, parent interactions, team collaboration, and mentoring students. Knowledge of special education needs and behavior management techniques to support diverse learners effectively.
Pay:
$50,000.00 - $57,000.00 per year
