Doctor of Philosophy Full Job Description Required Qualifications:

PhD in Neuroscience or related field. Experience with the biophysical analysis of alpha-synuclein aggregation. This is a postdoctoral scientist position in Dr. Lee's laboratory. Initial project involves cell biological and biophysical characterization of various alpha-synuclein aggregates/oligomers found in vivo (Mouse models and human tissue) that can induce neuropathology/neurodegeneration. 1. Subcellular fractionation of alpha-synuclein from mouse CNS and human brain with and without alpha-synuclein pathology. Basic biochemical characterization (25%) 2. Generation of recombinant alpha-synuclein and preformed fibrils (10%) 3. Seeded amplification of the subcellular fractions (15%) 4. Comparative analysis of the subcellular fractions and seeded amplified fibrils in cell models for seeding activity and toxicity (25%) 5. Biophysical analysis of the alpha-synuclein fibrils amplified from brain fractions, including cryo-EM analysis (25%) The Department of Neuroscience is committed to providing excellence in research, education, and public service.
