Job Title:
NGS Laboratory Specialist Job Description We are seeking a self-motivated NGS Laboratory Specialist with hands-on experience in NGS-library preparation and sequencing on industry-leading platforms, particularly Illumina. The ideal candidate should have a robust background in molecular/cell biology and genetics, coupled with the ability to design and execute experiments using molecular technologies. Familiarity with automated workflows and systems such as Perkin-Elmer liquid handlers is highly desirable, as well as developed skills in protocol development and troubleshooting. Responsibilities Interact with team members, Senior Manager, and Project Managers to ensure seamless project execution. Prepare and sequence next-generation sequencing (NGS) libraries. Possess foundational knowledge of molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA extraction, RT-PCR, PCR, and microarray. Support team leads and junior technicians in timely project execution. Implement and help maintain quality control processes. Ensure associated instruments are in optimal working order and manage supply and consumable maintenance. Maintain laboratory records in compliance with company guidelines. Demonstrate a full understanding of laboratory requirements and SOPs. Work collaboratively in a team environment. Exhibit problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities. Apply effective time and project management skills. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or Molecular Biology. At least 1 year of post-graduation molecular biology experience in an industry setting. Expertise in pipetting, PCR, and Next Generation Sequencing. Proven experience as a Lab Technician or in a relevant position. Experience in operating both electrical and non-electrical laboratory equipment. Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and database management. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with Biosafety cabinets. Troubleshooting experience in a lab environment. Experience in qPCR, sequencing, analyzing sequencing data, and human iPSC cell culture. Work Environment The role involves working in a biobanking, bioprocessing, and analytics setting established since 1999. Candidates will handle incoming samples such as DNA, blood, stool, and urine. Shifts are available in the IBX tracker, contributing to the organization's standing as the first FDA-approved entity for saliva testing during the pandemic, thus making significant contributions to the health crisis. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Piscataway, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
