Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate for the Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine (CABM) within Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS). The primary purpose of the Postdoctoral Associate is to conduct mouse brain slice electrophysiology experiments and conduct computational neuroscience research. The Postdoctoral Associate will work on projects related to the sensitivity of cellular and circuit mechanisms of memory storage and recall to perturbation of energy availability to neurons. The position is fully funded by AFOSR through a MURI grant awarded to a collaborative team that includes Dr. Milstein as a Co-PI. The position represents a unique opportunity to be co-mentored by multiple investigators at the forefront of the field, and includes the potential for travel to interact with collaborators and to attend national and international research conferences. This is a grant-funded position contingent on the availability of funds to support it. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Conduct brain slice physiology and computational neuroscience research. Analyze modeling data from computational simulation of neural circuits, slice physiology data collected in the lab, and in vivo experimental data collected by collaborators. Share scientific results with the community by presenting posters and seminars locally and at external conferences, and by submitting manuscripts for peer-review and publication. Provide training and mentorship to undergraduate, graduate, and medical students in the Milstein lab. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Exempt Salary Details A minimum of $63,968 for calendar year appointments Minimum Salary 20,000 Mid Range Salary 90,000 Maximum Salary 200,000 Offer Information The final salary offer may be determined by several factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's qualifications, experience, and expertise, and availability of department or grant funds to support the position. Ph.D. candidates who meet requirements with All But Degree (ABD) status will be considered Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Prior experience writing computer programs using the language Python. Experience in modeling biological neural circuit function and/or performing brain slice electrophysiology experiments. Physical Demands and Work Environment Work will be performed primarily in an office environment working at a computer, or in a lab environment working at a microscope. Low to moderate noise.
